Normally, a gag order is designed to serve the interest of not polluting the prospective jury pool. Instead, here, it is used to protect the sensitivity of a persecutor and a judge and is only pointed at a defendant, despite the fact that the pretrial “news” which might pollute a prospective jury pool is largely anti-Trump.
