Foreign countries have laws. If you go to one of these countries it would seem to be common sense that you would respect those laws and not casually disregard them for selfish personal reasons. Skylar seems to be a typical spoiled American kid that wandered out of the nest into the real world believing she is the center of the universe. She quickly discovered the real world has consequences.

Skylar initially got four months imprisonment for violating Cayman Island Covid quarantine restrictions so she could watch her boyfriend compete in some kind of personal watercraft event. She cut off a personal tracking bracelet and went into the public ignoring the Island's laws. The sentence was reduced to eight weeks but her family is appealing the decision.

In 1994 spoiled American kid Michael Fay got caned in Singapore for vandalizing automobiles. He got four lashes reduced from six. Skylar should buck up and serve her sentence and consider herself lucky.

Remember Otto Warmbier? He stole a poster off a wall in of all places, North Korea. Look at the price he paid! Improvident parenting doesn't just involve drug use and criminal activity. Sometimes just spoiling a kid can make them vulnerable to the Darwinist principle.

Skylar will learn more from her prison time than anything else in her life.

The problem here is that she likely won't learn. She'll blame others and grow resentful of other people having the temerity of placing restrictions on her for any reason. She will likely also be the kind of person who will not think twice -- or even once -- about silencing people who disagree with her. Likely calling it 'hate speech'.

Oh shit! She watched her boyfriend compete in a jet ski tournament?!!! How dare she! Yeah, that really deserves jail time. :cuckoo:

Hey, how about instead of demonizing Americans and calling them spoiled, you instead question this shit countries fucking dumb ass laws that send a girl to prison for that bullshit?

Why dont the two of you spoiled fucktards ^ just shut the fuck up? How about that?

She violated the country’s laws, she should have get the maximum sentence allowable. If she wanted to watch the event, show up two weeks early.

Being an American does NIT give you the right to violate another country’s laws and expect to jut get away with it. Obey the laws, or stay home (like I do).

Fuck off asshole. Behave like and adult, get treated like one. Behave like as spoiled American liberal, go to jail

I think people either get this or they don't. Those who get it go with their lives-live and let live-and above all respect others, their customs and their laws, especially when visiting as an outsider. People tend to get testy when you do as please and thumb your nose at them.

Those who don't get it are in for tough sledding brought on by their behavior. Isn't this really just the story of life itself? I think old Charley Darwin would agree.

Any law that puts a young girl in prison for going to a jet ski event is a dumb and barbaric law.

Adults go watch jet skis. She was behaving like an adult. That countries laws are dumb and they deserve shame for it.

As neither of us are citizens of the Cayman Islands (I’m assuming), that’s not for US to say.

She went there knowing the law. They explained it to her again. She actively and knowingly broke the law. She deserves to be severely punished for her crime.

The fuck it isnt. When a country has terrible laws, they must be denounced by the world. The Taliban shouldnt be enslaving girls who get caught in schools, nor should the Cayman Islands be throwing girls in prison for going to watch jet skis.

I’m a citizen of the United States of America, not the world. I believe we need to get our noses OUT of the business of other nations, unless they attempt to impact America.

US Citizens need to understand that our rights and society end at our borders. In other countries they will be subject to the laws, customs and society of thst nation. For better or worse.

The actions of the Taliban relative to US Territorial interests are one thing. What they do in their own country is their problem.
