I don't doubt your situation when you were 15. At the same age, I finally got up enough courage to go to the guidance office and ask the school officials for family counseling and a foster home because I was being raised in a house where fear of abuse was prevalent and I walked on eggshells. But as this was a somewhat upscale neighborhood, my mother (the great saint of Catholicism in her lacy mantilla at the Vatican) was able to ward off the authorities. Years later, she told me that she notified them that I was "a very spoiled little girl." You were not protected. I was not protected.

The goal in the present moment is to make sure that these things never, ever happen to anyone, boys as well as girls, and that all children are protected from sexual predators until they can grow up and pursue their dreams.
