If they asked for help, I'd vote for helping. Simple as that. I wouldn't predicate it on a "successful" overthrow of the government.

Historically they've always been fairly tough. It's only recent history that has shown the French to end up in trouble again and again. The rise of a unified Germany did a number on France.
