On the one hand, one can justifiably address Roma crime.

There are far too many Roma organizations involved in criminal activity, such as fraud and theft. Though there also groups of other nationalities who commit fraud, deception, and robbery (and are glorified by so called 'based white chads', such as some Eastern Europeans on whom they base their ideology because they are Eastern European, or, in the past, the Italian Mafia).

It must not be forgotten that Roma are primarily hated because of their poverty, their dark skin, and their origin—simply because of who they are—and therefore experience exclusion and discrimination. Police brutality and violence perpetrated by ultranationalist groups are also issues.

Why is this not an issue in North America?

I don't suppose that Cher helped the Romani reputation much.
