President Trump makes no secret of his displeasure over the cost of renovating the Federal Reserve headquarters — around $2.5 billion, or even higher by the president’s accounting.

But getting the White House to discuss another of Washington’s expensive renovation projects, the cost of refurbishing a “free” Air Force One from Qatar, is quite another matter.

Officially, and conveniently, the price tag has been classified. But even by Washington standards, where “black budgets” are often used as an excuse to avoid revealing the cost of outdated spy satellites and lavish end-of-year parties, the techniques being used to hide the cost of Mr. Trump’s pet project are inventive.

Which may explain why no one wants to discuss a mysterious, $934 million transfer of funds from one of the Pentagon’s most over-budget, out-of-control projects — the modernization of America’s aging, ground-based nuclear missiles. (It is not clear if the entire transfer will be devoted to stripping the new Air Force One back to its airframe, but Air Force officials privately acknowledge dipping into nuclear modernization funds for the complex project.)

There isn't any great mystery as to what needs to be done to the "free" plane to prepare it for use as AF1. A project trump very much wants to be completed before the end of his term so the cost of the refurbishing will be on the taxpayers. So why the need for the budget to be classified?

Is how much it will cost so Don can have a shiny, retooled jet to use after he leaves office on the taxpayer's dime a matter of national security?

Is this his response to the endless waiting for the two-air force one planes that were supposedly should have been in use a few years ago and may take few more.

yes both parties are corrupt.

The question is whether the Democrat is more corrupt than most.
A quick analysis show's there is a perception that the Democratic Party has become less transparent, or truthful particularly as it has shifted further left in its agenda and rhetoric, which some argue has led to a disconnect with moderate voters. This perception may stem from the party's focus on specific policy proposals without effectively communicating the underlying values, making it seem less open to public scrutiny compared to the GOP.

Don't use the NYT, they have a pay wall.

And are full of shiite

Actually, the question is why is the budget for Dotard's plane classified?
False premise, it's not his plane. He already has one. Air Force One doesn't belong to the president.

The last thing I would take from a bunch of Muslims is an airplane.

Who knows what they hid in there.

That's why they're retrofitting it themselves. It will be stripped to the bone and everything put back in place.

It cost $4 billion to build the latest Air Force One, so modifying this one at nearly $1billion to serve the presidency is a good deal.

I didn't dare read it for fear of committing a Federal crime.
