I understand that the climate is harsh....but that has never stopped us or anyone before.

Look at the gold rush in Alaska. Men stood in line to kill themselves to get to the gold. Even today people suffer all kinds of trials to get at gold and oil that still exists there.

If you really think that the US is going to "conquer" anyone...you're the most naive person on this board, Hector! If Greenland decides that they no longer want to be part of another country...that's on the people of Greenland. If they decide that they would rather be part of the US as a territory then that's also on the people of Greenland. Nobody is conquering anyone!

As for Canada? It was a dig by Trump against an obviously mortally wounded Trudeau. Canada is a proud nation run by liberal idiots at the moment. It's not just petroleum products that really matter....it's cheap petroleum products that is the real crux of the issue.

There exists a process of converting useless yellow coal into diesel fuel. However it's too expensive to produce by the barrel by comparison with the cost of pumping petroleum and refining it out of the ground. So....we don't do it.
And we have a LOT of natural Yellow coal available (considered worthless) and can produce more if we so desired.

So....that part is understandable.
And if explorations result in a destroyed fishing industry (one of the few industries Greenland has successfullycreated) Then I can understand why they have stopped looking altogether.

So....maybe there is oil....maybe not. Maybe it can't be pumped out successfully and create a profit. Maybe the bitumen isn't really good for high demand products.
