Seems a slow painful death on the streets is the empathetic wayAnd letting them slowly die on the streets because we lack the conviction to force them to seek help is any better?

On one hand, it's absolutely amazing that he could say "just kill them", and still have a job. I've never heard anything like that. There's been some nutty stuff said, but not THAT.Brian Kilmeade apologizes for remark about homeless people
Fox News host Brian Kilmeade issued an apology on Sunday over a remark he made on the air earlier in the week about homeless people and crime.
Kilmeade made the comment during a discussion on Wednesday’s edition of “Fox & Friends” about the murder of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, a case that has become a flash point for Republicans’ and President Trump’s efforts to crack down on crime.
After Fox host Lawrence Jones said of the homeless population “a lot of them don’t want to take the programs or get the help that is necessary, you can’t give them a choice. Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you, or you’re going to be locked up in jail.”
“Or involuntary lethal injection,” Kilmeade responded. “Just kill them.”
On Sunday, Kilmeade apologized on air for the remark.
Seems a little extreme to suggest killing the homeless. Out of character even for a Fox host. Lucky for him he didn't mention any of the hateful things Kirk said during his time as a divisive provocateur or he might have been fired. He only said mentally ill people should be murdered.......so no problem if you work for the Murdoch's.
Minneapolis. 17 camps have been bulldozed in 2024. Two had extreme fires because idiots are giving them propane heaters during the winter. A couple houses were damaged.Sorry, where is that?
Yes, that was my question. What do we do then, assuming FoX talking heads don't get their way.
Newsom is the posterboy. Gave $27B to this cronies in the homeless industrial complex and our homeless population ballooned to 190,000 - half of all of the homeless in the country.it's the way to throw money at the problem while not solving the problem, while at the same time allowing for nice cushy government jobs allocating money to various NGO's.
JFC, it was said facetiously. Perhaps in poor taste, but he's apologized. On one hand, it's absolutely amazing that he could say "just kill them", and still have a job. I've never heard anything like that. There's been some nutty stuff said, but not THAT.
"Just kill them". He actually said it.
On the other hand, it's Fox, so, meh, I guess. I wonder how many of their fans were nodding along.
Right wing violence speech occurs every day. This is a good example. So is Trump posting a hog tied Biden or a war meme about Chicago. Righties are violent as ****.
Can you ever post something without blaring your TDS?Right wing violence speech occurs every day. This is a good example. So is Trump posting a hog tied Biden or a war meme about Chicago. Righties are violent as ****.
I'd prefer facilities that can help them both medically/psychologically, and also help them get off drugs as needed.Seems a slow painful death on the streets is the empathetic way
Depends. Are you homeless?Brian Kilmeade apologizes for remark about homeless people

I just backed it up with 3 examples.More opinions, no backup.

They are all very famous examples that dont need being backed up. Just like I dont ask you to provide a link that Trump is the president you dont need a link to know Trump posted an AI picture of Biden hogtied on the back of a truck to his millions of followers. Its common knowledge. No links, so no context.
Works for me, but new laws would have to be passed (and defended) to be able to put these people in these institutions.I'd prefer facilities that can help them both medically/psychologically, and also help them get off drugs as needed.

I noticed the two people on the panel with Brian didn't really react. Maybe they were stunned. But as a human being you'd think one of them would have objected to the suggestion that people be murdered for being mentally ill.On one hand, it's absolutely amazing that he could say "just kill them", and still have a job. There are NO programs that help. What there are is levels of bureaucracy with helpful sounding names that do nothing but pay salaries.Agreed. But how does that work with laws driving them away without programs that help?

I have seen hundreds if not thousands of programs to help the mentally ill and drug addicted. None actually help. There is nothing that will or even can help.
