Brian Kilmeade apologizes for remark about homeless people

Fox News host Brian Kilmeade issued an apology on Sunday over a remark he made on the air earlier in the week about homeless people and crime.

Kilmeade made the comment during a discussion on Wednesday’s edition of “Fox & Friends” about the murder of 23-year-old Iryna Zarutska, a case that has become a flash point for Republicans’ and President Trump’s efforts to crack down on crime.

After Fox host Lawrence Jones said of the homeless population “a lot of them don’t want to take the programs or get the help that is necessary, you can’t give them a choice. Either you take the resources that we’re going to give you, or you’re going to be locked up in jail.”

“Or involuntary lethal injection,” Kilmeade responded. “Just kill them.”

On Sunday, Kilmeade apologized on air for the remark.

Seems a little extreme to suggest killing the homeless. Out of character even for a Fox host. Lucky for him he didn't mention any of the hateful things Kirk said during his time as a divisive provocateur or he might have been fired. He only said mentally ill people should be murdered.......so no problem if you work for the Murdoch's.

No. But homeless drug addicts should be put somewhere safe and given all the drugs they want.

Not euthanized but hitting them with inter-nasal Narcan when they’re in a Fentanyl stupor in your neighborhood is absolutely delicious

And letting them slowly die on the streets because we lack the conviction to force them to seek help is any better?

Agreed. But how does that work with laws driving them away without programs that help?

There are programs to help them, but no one uses any mechanism to force them to take the help.

We throw tons of money at the homeless issue, most of which goes to fund government employees to run funded NGO programs.

Those people don't want to "fix" the issue, they want to keep it running.

How would you force them?

The question had to do with government policy. Deflection noted.
There is no effective government policy, thanks the Constitutional rights of the homeless to be a pain in the ass.

Mpls, the liberal haven, bulldozed a camp of over 200 people on a residential street, because of fires, rapes and open drug use.
All were offered shelter and only 9 took up the city on that offer.
Some people just don't want to be helped.

Seems like an incredibly insensitive remark. I wonder why Faux didn't fire him as Dowd was fired from MSNBC?
A knee jerk response indicating that he was fed up with the problem, as are many.

I make a work list each morning. Some on the list are just routine tasks, others are problems to be solved. Usually by the end of the day I have crossed everything off my list. Why can't government do the same (I'll give them a few more days however).

When the government sees a person drowning it's best to try to save them. Making notes about the situation while they sink doesn't help much. If fact it will cost more to recover the body than to just save the person in the first place.
Saving them isn't political, or economical. It's just the right thing to do.

Sorry, where is that?

Yes, that was my question. What do we do then, assuming FoX talking heads don't get their way.
