Should Repubs get a pass on introspection because trump won?

Yes, our oligarchs suck up too many resources. That's by design - neoliberalism makes that happen. And don't fool yourself - the wealthiest in our society remain firmly in the driver's seat, Trumpy or no Trumpy.

I am far more worried of government elites than any rich people. See my sig for my view on that.

I think the winners need to realize why and how they won and losers need to realize why they lost.

I do wonder why Trump won, after the chaos, the insulting, how could people vote for him? It occurred to me that people had a choice and looking over the last four years, people didn’t feel better off than four years ago and they felt Trump was a better choice for America than any other alternative. Why is that? I don’t know.
You ignore the simple fact that the American people are tired of the bureaucrats grinding them under foot.

Trump stated publicly that he would relieve them of that. The democrats had better be damned thankful that Trump isn't the fascist they claim because the last time a bureaucracy got this powerful, and corrupt, it was only controlled when the Tzar, killed them all.

That was back in the 1600's.

Of course they do, they won.

How much introspection has any party done after they won? The simple reality is that they have been vindicated.

The only saving grace here is that Trump will not be running again and a party with a base that has rejected absolutely everything they represent, who the hell are they going to get behind after Trump.

No one can replace him because they follow him and not an idea.

I think that we're seeing something historically similar to the way the parties flipped on race in the early 1960's. The Democrats are now (perceived as) the educated elites, and the Republicans are (perceived as) for the working class.

This sure looks like a seismic shift. The Mitt Romney/Paul Ryan upper crust class of Republicans is essentially gone, and they're not coming back.

I just hope the party can get past this bizarre, ham-handed, alternate reality phase. If they do, the Democrats will have some big decisions to make. They should be making those decisions now, before it's too late.

Bizarre as in wanting secure borders? Wanting the federal government to be more efficient? Not wanting pride/trans crap to go overboard?

To not be lied to about our president being "just fine" then on a dime told he shouldn't run anymore because of his mental health? To not be scolded into lowering my standard of living due to AGW when the people sreaming keep theirs?

I'll take Trump's bombast and exaggeration over the far more damaging policy lies of the left any day.

And why did they vote for Trump? Because after four years of Biden/Harris they felt Trump was a better choice than Harris. You would think the Democrats would get that, but they blame white women, Asian men, Hispanics but not the policies or results of the policies and agenda the Democratic Party took that cause voters to compare where they were to today.

Musk just forked over 200 million to get Trump elected. Now he's in charge of identifying and eliminating waste, all with good ol Marty in mind. 😂

Through our tax code
The tax code simply lays out who owes how much tax, it doesn't give anyone resources. What you're referring to is envy that someone else has a lot more and you think they should pay a lot more than they do. The rich pump a lot of money into the economy, especially the idle rich who just want to play. They don't buy their clothes at Walmart, for instance, but at high-end stores. They don't go out on the lake in Uncle Joe's beat-up old pontoon boat, they buy multimillion dollar yachts. They don't rent a singlewide in the trailer park, they buy multimillion dollar mansions. All those things pay skilled workers a lot of money. No, the idle entitled are those who demand unearned government benefits with no intention of producing anything, even though they are perfectly capable of doing so.

I don't ask because I think Dem's should avoid some of their own. Self flagellation is kind of their thing after a losing election cycle and it's happening right now. IMO, Dems should take some of Bill Maher's advice which many of you are likely familiar with. For instance.......is there evidence drag queen shows are harmful to kids? No. Is it good politics to advocate for them? No. Dems need to wake up to the reality that Repubs are very good at exploiting, and lying about, social wedge issues. Wise up and don't make it easy for them. (social wedge issues played a very minor role in this election which was all about inflation)

But nominating trump for a third time and then electing him after what we know from the last 8 years of vitriol, incompetence, and lies, especially after Jan. 6, is inexcusable. It's on Repubs, not Dems. He should not have gotten within a million miles of being on a presidential ballot. Or any ballot for elected office. A fact that's already becoming abundantly clear as he careens towards authoritarian governance by trying to sideline Congress so his farcical cabinet picks can avoid scrutiny. Dashing any hope the warnings from the Left were not spot on. We told you so. You didn't listen. Reflect on that.

How can you not know?
Harris as an alternative? You'd have to be a brainless America hater to vote for that trash.
Trump is the only person equipped to get America back on track.

Hmmm, a wealthy person using his money to help elect the candidate of his choice. Now, where have we heard of that being done before? Oh, that's right, every single election in living memory.

Oh, I think it is far more basic than that. Thinking people, like those in the middle class, determined that between the open border, the rampant inflation, the vax mandates etc. That it wasn't a choice of who would be better, but more who will I not get killed BY.

Face it, the democrats imported hundreds of thousands of violent criminals. The American people figured it out even with all of the media lying.

It's simply a matter of they want to live now.

The taxes the ultra rich don't pay lower revenue for the government, money that can't be allocated for other projects.

And when Soros did it for decades at the State and local level, it was A-OK because "Reasons"?

So you are saying government waste is something to be protected?

Absolutely not.... This country is a long way from unity and both parties are at fault.

Remember, it's only wrong when we do it.

Not on bodily autononomy

That's the rhetoric.

But in actuality Dem POLICIES benefit the working class and the nation as a whole

Republican policies do not

Not on healthcare
Not on jobs
not on education

Soros 😂

Yes! Because we must give politicians as much of our money to spend as possible. Even if it’s borrowed from the future!
