If I could speak to him directly I'd say, "Bill, you're so busy being mad at Dem's for being too woke you seem to have forgotten IT WAS REPUBS who are responsible for putting your sacred cows at risk. Wake the fuck up."

I don't ask because I think Dem's should avoid some of their own. Self flagellation is kind of their thing after a losing election cycle and it's happening right now. IMO, Dems should take some of Bill Maher's advice which many of you are likely familiar with. For instance.......is there evidence drag queen shows are harmful to kids? No. Is it good politics to advocate for them? No. Dems need to wake up to the reality that Repubs are very good at exploiting, and lying about, social wedge issues. Wise up and don't make it easy for them. (social wedge issues played a very minor role in this election which was all about inflation)

But nominating trump for a third time and then electing him after what we know from the last 8 years of vitriol, incompetence, and lies, especially after Jan. 6, is inexcusable. It's on Repubs, not Dems. He should not have gotten within a million miles of being on a presidential ballot. Or any ballot for elected office. A fact that's already becoming abundantly clear as he careens towards authoritarian governance by trying to sideline Congress so his farcical cabinet picks can avoid scrutiny. Dashing any hope the warnings from the Left were not spot on. We told you so. You didn't listen. Reflect on that.

New York's total tax burden is 12%. Add that to the top federal tax rate of 37% and you get 49%. When you add up all the taxes we pay, the total is much higher than just the marginal tax rate confiscated by Uncle Sam.

Obviously, the democrat message and the candidate they chose did not resonate with the voters this election. Maher is correct that the democrats have lost focus on kitchen table issues that affect most voters and have instead become focused on the loudest voices of their various fringe groups.
