Although Trump's statement had a bad delivery (had he prefaced it with what he said at the end - it wouldn't have been nearly as big of a deal) he is not advocating for Liz Cheney to be shot.

He was saying that Cheney is a "war hawk" and wanted to go to war quite a bit when he was president - and that she wouldn't want to go to war if she actually had to go out there and fight - with guns pointing at her and shooting at her (That's what war is, folks).

I've heard similar statements when it comes to going to war in the past (by people opposed to going to war) so it's nothing new. Hopefully most Trump supporters understand and realize he does not want Liz Cheney getting shot.
