First of all, we did not suffer four years of skyrocketing inflation.

We had about one year, after which, due to effective management of the past Covid world, inflation in the US gradually declined to about where it was in January, a little over 3%

You haven’t felt the impact of Trump’s tarrifs yet. You will.

And it is impossible to estimate when the US economy will recover from Trumpism. Trump’s recklessness will continue in one form or another until he is gone.

There is little sign that anything of substance going on in terms of trade agreements. Trump delayed his most draconian pronouncements for 90 days. Right wing media crowed that 37 countries had come crawling.

In fact, there is little sign that much is happening.

No one trusts Trump. They know he does not honor his commitments.

So, a tarrif deal with Trump isn’t worth the paper it’s printed on.

Everyone knows that. That fact is baked in to any deals.

There will be inflation. Jobs in manufacturing will not fall out of a Trump crowd and land in Trumpworld.

Instead, nations are understanding that doing business with or in the United States is now very risky and unpredictable.

Thanks entirely to a reckless, incompetent and petulant Trump.


There is one thing else worth noting.

The inflation that followed Covid was world wide. The US recovered from it faster than any other country.
