Shooter who killed 10 Black people in Buffalo, NY, says grand jury was too white

You're right, so he should have been ok.
I am right. Which means you were wrong.

Also, at the risk of offending you, I agree with you that for a racist white mass murderer to complain about the “too white” composition of the Grand Jury which indicted him for his white racist mass murder is patently ridiculous — on its face.

His lawyers, here, appear to be devoid of any genuine legal complaint about the indictment or the outcome of the trial.

The shitbag murdering ********** will be laughed out of court on this legal “point.”

No, superdumbassnegro, you'll never get close to me. Don't even try. Your stupidity is far beyond anything that I could hope to match. I've got more college degrees than you have IQ points.
Come on airplanemoron, your pasty ass is going to hurt yourself patting yourself on the back. You've got all those college degrees and you're still a racist idiot.

Stop lying, you drive a truck for a living.

Yep, with multiple college degrees. I used to manage a trucking company. I was tired of being taken advantage of so I quit.

I have more college degrees than the owner of the company I work for. I had more degrees by the time I was 25 than every owner of every company I ever worked for, actually.

I had a rep from my company call me the other day and tell me that they would like me to move up from driver to sales manager, because my emails to them are written so well and so coherently they said I'd be great working with their customers. They said its refreshing to get an email from a driver written on a collegiate level.

**** that. I couldn't stand working in the office with those people. I can barely tolerate it long enough to go turn in the paperwork from my past deliveries.

At least I'm not a dumbassnegro that thinks the defense can select the grand jury! What a ******* moron! LOL

And what's worse, you make a ******* thread about it SHOWING HOW ******* STUPID YOU ARE LOLOL

A white supremacist who shot and killed 10 Black people at a supermarket in Buffalo, New York, asked a judge to dismiss his federal case because not enough Black and Hispanic people were on the grand jury that indicted him, a motion filed by his attorneys on Aug. 14 said.

Lawyers for Payton Gendron, the gunman who is serving 11 life sentences on state charges in connection with the 2022 massacre, said Black and Hispanic people are "systematically" underrepresented in the Southern District of New York's jury pools, violating the constitutional rights of defendants, the motion said.

In response, the U.S. Attorney's Office said Gendron's lawyers failed to prove there is a systematic underrepresentation in the jury pool and urged the judge to reject the motion. The judge has not filed a decision as of Aug. 15.

This is definitely a new one.

Didn't his lawyers play a part in jury selection?

I will bet the farm they didn't want any black or Hispanic jurors.
What percentage of the population is black and what percentage of jurors are black?

This is the process in the USA -

1. Formation of Jury Pool:
Citizens are randomly selected from voter registration and driver's license lists to form a jury pool, also known as the venire.

2. Summoning and Qualification:
Those selected receive a summons to appear for jury duty. They may be required to complete a questionnaire to pre-qualify, checking for things like citizenship, English language proficiency, and any conditions that might excuse them from service.

3. Questioning and Voir Dire:
Once at the courthouse, prospective jurors are questioned in a process called "voir dire". This can be done by the judge or by the attorneys, and it's designed to identify any potential biases or conflicts of interest.

4. Challenges to Jurors:
Attorneys can challenge potential jurors in two ways:
Challenges for Cause: These are used when an attorney can demonstrate that a juror's responses indicate they cannot be fair and impartial. There's no limit to the number of these challenges.
Peremptory Challenges: These allow attorneys to strike a limited number of jurors without needing to provide a reason, according to Law Gazette.

5. Final Jury Selection:
After all challenges have been made, the remaining jurors are selected to hear the case
.

Do you have a link to say how the random selection at the start was conducted, and do you have a link on how blacks did on the questionnaires and how they did on the qualifications?

What is it with management these days? I remember when if something went wrong in the workshop, machinery etc the middle managers were there assisting and were knowledgeable enough that they weren't a burden. They were actually useful. Their first question was "what do you need?". Now they're checking whether you fit their DEI schedules!! But the wheel is turning I hope.

BTW: I was a lousy manager so I went an alternative path.

I can understand not wanting a corporate job, they do usually have better pay and benefits though,

Well yes, but the defense has no control over who is on the grand jury. The idiot OP had no idea about this and asked a very stupid ******* question regarding this.

For that matter, neither does the DA. He can't pick and choose his jurists, either.
The problem the lawyers are arguing isn't the jury selection itself but "the pool" that the jury comes from...they are in essence claiming there is not enough diversity to choose from, but all this really amounts to is just posturing so the lawyers can, in the end, claim they exhausted every legal avenue for their client.

Not a new one at all.

BTW, defense lawyers don't participate in the selection of grand juries.

Defense attorneys I have drank with tell me that you almost always want black people on the jury if you are on the defense

Too bad NY doesn't have the death penalty. Unless the feds case goes through all he gets as punishment is 3 hots and a cot.
