Like I said, it's not ready for prime time. We need to build the reactors and make fusion practical. We also need to build out storage. These things are not done yet. In time, they can be, but that's the point, not yet.Nuclear is fine. Fusion even better. The wind is always blowing somewhere and we know when the sun is up and when it's down. With sufficient storage and a smart enough grid, these are not problems.
Things like governments making new ICE cars illegal 10 years in the future. That's forcing.Fuckup hilarious

And how do you believe Trump would stop anything? The House and the Senate will have strong democratic majorities. Is he going to seize control of the entire auto industry by EO? Do you know who else did that? A little Austrian with a funny mustache.
"But having to physically go somewhere with the sole intention of recharging doesn’t feel like the right way to go. Certainly not for a rapid charger. The time it takes to recharge is just long enough that waiting is a chore, but not long enough to leave your car and do something else; leaving a car plugged in when it isn’t recharging is a jerk move."![]()
Shell to close 1,000 gas stations to focus on EV charging deployment

"Gas and oil giant Shell is looking to close as many as 1,000 retail gas stations in the coming years, as it pivots toward deployment of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations.
In its latest Energy Transition Strategy report, England-based Shell says it plans to close 500 retail sites per year in 2024 and 2025. The company plans to instead focus on scaling its public EV charging network, and in hopes to bring total charging points up to 200,000 by 2030, up from around 54,000 today.
“In total, we plan to divest around 500 Shell-owned sites (including joint ventures) a year in 2024 and 2025,” the company writes on page 28 of the document, as initially spotted by Bloomberg.
The company has also said it plans to focus on public charging stations, rather than on home charging, due to its competitive advantages in the sector."
This may be another Hertz (We fucked up boarding the EV band wagon" moment in less than five years.
I dont get why a petroleum giant would set that much money on fire to do that.
Where do they plan to get the power.....Diesel generators?

The federal government is handing out cash hand over fist to states who are then handing it out to businesses to build EV charging stations in specific areas.
In KY the Governor has given out $15.4 million dollars to have 24 charging stations built with a minimum of 4 charging ports.
Turn off the gas pumps, renovate the building, and put in EV charges at the taxpayer's expense. Then turn the gas pumps back on after the checks have cleared.

Like Porsche on that same logging road fuckup.True ... but that's not how we're using golf carts today ... they're plugged in overnight and have all the energy they need for a couple, three rounds of golf ... twenty miles maximum ... a little bigger and we can get a hundred miles in per day ... that's the average commute for my friend in SoCal, and he jumped on the hybrid wagon as soon as they were available and he just loves them ... and just keeps buying them ... his electricity is "most expensive in the nation" so EVs for him are out ...
Sadly ... he also owns an air conditioner ... just like killing Bambi's mother all over again ... the bastard ...
Anyway ... glorified golf carts should be used where PRACTICAL and ECONOMICAL ... and that's isn't everyplace in the world ... would we build a 700 foot tall dam across the lower Mississippi? ... would you drive a Prius on three-digit logging roads? ...
I hope Shell don't try electric garages in Australia, they'll just end up going bust like Tritium -![]()

The only charging stations I ever saw in Kentucky were at a service area on the Western Kentucky Parkway, and they are owned by Tesla. There are no major metro areas withing 75 miles of that location and sits in the median of an interstate-quality limited access highway in the middle of nowhere.![]()

The EV train is dying for loss of power. Most major automakers, realizing their sales are plummeting, are now shifting production to hybrids. People saw the disastrous performance of EVs and charging stations last winter. Even the electric trucks like Tesla has been incapable of beating a hybrid diesel electric truck. That is really silly and uninformed, what is sad is the inverse is true of what you just wrote, and you have nary a clue why.
How? Are you proposing we build more nuclear plants? Those are the only reliable sources of energy other than fossil fuels. As time goes by, less and less and less of that charging power will come from fossil fuels.
So where is this fusion power going to come from to power those Shell stations?Nuclear is fine. Fusion even better. The wind is always blowing somewhere and we know when the sun is up and when it's down. With sufficient storage and a smart enough grid, these are not problems.
