Sessions Says 'No' To Republican Requests For A Second Special Counsel

Attorney General Jeff Sessions says he is not appointing — for now — a second special counsel to investigate allegations of wrongdoing by the FBI and Justice Department, telling Republican lawmakers that he has already asked a veteran prosecutor to look into the matter.

Republicans on Capitol Hill, including the chairmen of the Senate and House judiciary committees, have ramped up their push in recent weeks for a second special counsel to investigate what they say was misconduct by the FBI and Justice Department in 2016 and 2017.

But, in a four-page letter sent to lawmakers Thursday, Sessions said a special counsel is reserved for extraordinary circumstances, and argues that the GOP allegations do not rise to that level. Sessions does not rule out the possibility of appointing another special counsel in the future, but says for now he has assigned the U.S. attorney for Utah, John W. Huber, to look into the claims.

The countdown to Sessions' resignation/firing begins...

maybe he wants to get fired so he can open up on Trump ..

maybe Trump wont fire Sessions because he cant without Sessions opening up on his fat, sorry ass ...

An ongoing investigation into it is already underway.

He waits for those reports...............Not to mention an ongoing IG investigation..........

At which point these reports can report possible criminal activity...........which would then force the DOJ to make the finding for a second independent investigation..............

As those they investigating will never take themselves down.

Him being fired is LONG overdue. I always thought he was a pitbull type of man but he is a pushover and obviously not the kind of aggressive AG we need.

It looks like Sessions is passing the responsibility onto an Obama appointee, John W. Huber.

Sessions will not move forward until all the I's are dotted and t's are crossed.....

He understands who he's up against here.................He is veteran in this arena................and he isn't stupid...........

I think Sessions is a swamp critter.

Perhaps not the level of vermin the democrooks are, or most the republicrats, but I don't see him aggressively pursuing the treasonous parasites in DC with the sort of vigor I'd like to see. He would have to go after people he has made "friends" with.

Ted Cruz would be a far better AG IMO.

He said he doesn't see grounds for appointing a special counsel based on GOP allegations at this time, but he's having an Obama appointee look into the matter. I think Jeff Sessions just doesn't want another special counsel.
