Senate Buys Lisa Murkowski's Vote

Murkowski and Collins are such frauds, They like to pass themselves off as moderates, but only vote with moderates when their votes are not needed. When push comes to shove they willl vote MAGA if their votes are needed. You can count on that.

The end game being their own re-election.

According to what I looked up, the aid for New Jersey, New York and other prog states was passed. Over 51 billion dollars. Those states are ill-prepared much more than southern states. It showed how weak their coasts are with structures. Also, I believe the southern states need stronger codes on coastal areas.

How Republicans got Murkowski to yes on Trump's megabill

But Murkowski — at times wrapped in a blanket or carrying around legislative text and pen to her colleagues — was able to extract key concessions for her state as she huddled on the floor with leadership, staff and fellow Alaska GOP Sen. Dan Sullivan. She won victories on clean energy tax credits, delaying changes to food aid for her state and the promise of massive revenues from oil and gas drilling leases, among other priorities she can take back home.

Note to Lisa, GFY.

Will she get her desperate wish?

But Murkowski touted changes she secured to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program that would allow for “greater flexibility” for Alaska and extra support for rural hospitals “that is going to be very key.” Senate Republicans also removed a controversial tax on solar and wind energy projects — a change Murkowski had pushed for. She also said she wanted to see President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts extended.

“I had to look on balance, because the people in my state are the ones that I put first,” Murkowski said. “We do not have a perfect bill by any stretch of the imagination. My hope is that the House is going to look at this and recognize that we’re not there yet.”

Murkowski said she’s urged both the White House and top Hill Republicans to send the bill to conference rather than ramming it back through the House this week, and slammed the “artificial” timeline Trump and GOP leaders had set of speeding the bill to his desk by July 4.

“I’ve urged the White House that I think that more process is needed to this bill, because I would like to see a better outcome for people in this country,” she said.

House Republicans don’t have the votes yet to pass Trump’s megabill

The House of Representatives on Tuesday took the reins of President Donald Trump’s megabill, after the Senate narrowly passed it following days of grueling negotiations and last-minute deals.

Now, Republican Speaker Mike Johnson is staring down an uncertain path for the bill through his chamber, where several members of his conference have already publicly registered their objection to the Senate-approved version of the bill.

The final vote in the Senate was 51-50, and Vice President JD Vance was needed to cast a tie-breaking vote.

“I don’t work for the Senate parliamentarian. I work for the PEOPLE,” Rep. Andy Ogles, R-Tenn., wrote on X Tuesday afternoon.

I wonder what kinds of disgusting, cynical, Murkowski style carveouts Repub House members will demand for their vote to pass this pig of a bill.
Very glad you're concerned about this bill and want it to pass. I share you disgust with Murkowski in that she has been very partisan and anti-Trump in the past. We are on the same page with this. Excellent.

Essentially, Lisa fucked the country and in return got some bennies for poor Alaskans. Putting the burden on the House to make changes to things she doesn't like is the ultimate act of cowardice when she herself could have demanded those changes be made.

The POT is bowing en masse to an artificial deadline imposed by a convicted criminal and serial sexual abuser.
Hawley, too, from what I understand of his snivel.

So she voted for it in the hopes that someone else would do the right thing so she wouldn't have to.

A vain hope indeed if she's counting on her fellow scumbags, er. I mean republicans.

Murkowski is usually a Maverick who votes in her states interests
Alaska gets a shitload of Federal Funding

In this case, she sold out
For MOAH federal funding?

I'm confused.

Best take I've seen so far...

She absolutely nailed it.

If I am a loyal Republican who always supports my party…..I am pissed

Murkowski frequently votes against her party and is a known swing vote

She is rewarded with more pork for her state while loyal Republicans get nothing

Troll on.

Murkowski is from a strong political powerful regional family. There are many of them in cities and states. Thery wet their beaks. A lot of what goes on politically and anything that is government including employees goes through them. England had its kings/queens. These are dukes and duchesses. She is from a power family in Alaska. We are peons.

‘In order to win Murkowski’s support, Republicans had added several provisions that would sweeten the deal for her state. But at the very last second, the Senate parliamentarian struck a carve-out that would’ve expanded federal funding for Medicaid in Alaska.

All 47 Democrats voted against the bill, and they were joined by Senators Rand Paul, Thom Tillis, and Susan Collins. Had Murkowski also voted “no,” the bill would have been defeated.

Murkowski told reporters that she hoped the House would send the bill back to the Senate so they could continue working on it. “My hope is that the House is gonna look at this and recognize that we’re not there yet,” Murkowski said, revealing just how misguided her support actually was.’

Voting for Trump was supposed to be the end of ‘business as usual politics,’ an end to career politicians making backroom deals, buying their votes in order to pass bad legislation.
Murkowski is now out there hoping the House will do the right thing since she couldn't and not pass it.

Well she got the promise of bennies that the House might very well rip out from under her. We'll see.

No, they do not. There are states where Republicans should win easily. And they are and were infected. Alaska should have two conservative Senators. and conservative representatives. You stole so much money from those who were/are damaged physically and mentally to give to people as part of your concerns who are trash. Yes. There are people who are trash. That is what they are no matter the color. You must separate those who are not. And you refuse to do it.
