Looks like a melee starting, now Sen. Rand Paul has joined the fray and said he is a "no" on BBB. Now is the time to call your critters in Congress swamp while the situation is fluid. Have a beer and work up a head of steam. Have fun. I don't care what these bloody greedy fools do to themselves or each other, but their stupidity will take the rest of us with them.

BREAKING: Sen. Ron Johnson Says He Has Votes to Stop BBB. A Vote for Big Beautiful Bill is a Vote for Runaway AI, Warned of by Stephen Hawking as Possible "End of the Human Race" Call your Congress critter now! NO on BBB!

"Focusing on the spending aspect of Trump's so-called "Big Beautiful Bill," Senator Ron Johnson now says he has the votes to "stop the process" to pass it in the Senate, and send it back to the House for more work.

As noted in a previous article at Corona News, the spending bill includes a key, controversial provision which in fact overshadows the spending bill in the long run. The bill attempts to ban states from making and enforcing law regulating AI safety, which has been a vital concern for thousands of AI scientists and experts including Elon Musk."

The late Dr. Stephen Hawking said about AI before he died in 2018:

“The development of full artificial intelligence could spell the end of the human race”

Sen. Johnson: "We are stealing from our children and our grandchildren." "I couldn't care less if [Trump] is upset."

Elon Musk: "AI is much more dangerous than nuclear weapons"

Well, count me as no fan of Steve Hawking, but in this one rare case, I must agree with him 100%. We cannot stop the development of AI, even if we don't build AI ourselves, someone else will, but we must absolutely regulate AI where we can that puts limits on it, or we literally will build our own technological horror much like Colossus: The Forbin Project.

Technology must forever always remain a tool for mankind, not the other way around.

1. Rand Paul is a "no" primarily because of raising the Debt ceiling $4T. He wants to cut spending more as well, but doesn't say what he wants to cut.

2. Ron Johnson and other senators want to eliminate the $3.8T (over 10-years) deficit, but don't say how. They should support Trump's recommendation to raise the top rate to 40%, that would balance the budget with a slight surplus.

Get it done senate or the taxes go up for everyone.

If the tax deductions remain, there is no 40%.

"The Three Laws of Robotics (often shortened to The Three Laws or Asimov's Laws) are a set of rules devised by science fiction author Isaac Asimov, which were to be followed by robots in several of his stories. The rules were introduced in his 1942 short story "Runaround" (included in the 1950 collection I, Robot), although similar restrictions had been implied in earlier stories.

The Laws

[edit]
The Three Laws, presented to be from the fictional "Handbook of Robotics, 56th Edition, 2058 A.D.", are:
  1. A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
  2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
  3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law."

Yet the taxpayer will reduce the tax with tax deductions. Get rid of deductions that are worth 99 billion a year.
You are preaching to the choir.

The "capital gains" tax loop-hole is the first one I'd eliminate. It should be taxed as ordinary income.

I have to say on this matter of the BBB:
  1. I really hope that when they pass whatever version of the bill they finally do, that it saves us enough money by cutting spending (from waste identified by DOGE) that in the end, this new bill either still lowers debt and spending or at least keeps it level and does not add to the debt by increased spending. This bill really needs to "pay for itself."
  2. That as far as AI is concerned, that we still manage to build the best AI out there (apparently, we have allowed ourselves to already fall behind), while at the same time, we keep rigorous controls on AI that AI remains a tool for us that does not "get out of our control."

AI is a form of expression and can't be regulated without breaking the First Amendment.

Bullshit. By that line of reasoning, Hitler was just expressing himself and had every right to invade Poland, France and elsewhere.

AI is a product. It is a tool. It must be regulated, restricted, and controlled by safeguards just like every other product made on the planet. In fact, as dangerous as AI is, it need EXTENSIVE regulation.

Problem is, I don't think that our people in Congress are smart enough to regulate it intelligently.

Maybe they can refer to ChatGPT for some help on the matter...

There are no DOGE cuts in the Big Beautiful Buttfuck..."Leadership" is too bought off and spinless to include them...

Honestly, there is not a single republican there I'd even give you 2¢ for. I see these people get interviewed in the hallways of congress and they never get asked the questions I would ask. People think just because I support Trump and hate democrats that I must be a republican, but I actually have a big problem with the GOP, and Trump is just about the only good thing to come their way in ages.

I remember when Reagan ran for president in the 1980s, the GOP did not like or back him at all either.
