Secure search engines

Ixquick is also secure. Encrypts all your queries, and doesn't log them. You can search on "Ixquick" to find how to make it default in your browser.

The only major browser that doesn't log every URL you visit (by IP address) is Firefox. Google Chrome, IE and Safari all track your browsing history by your IP address.

Now, one could say it's all pointless, because your ISP can still be tapped. But your ISP doesn't track your data in that detail, unless specially ordered to. The ISP routes packets, but doesn't assemble them, so there's limited info that can be gotten from an ISP log.

Lots of folks are not gonna just bend over.. You gonna see a huge increase in encryption, a drop in interest about "social media", and a BUNCH of tussles by companies refusing to submit to blanket warrants..

Heard commercials this week for reagan.com email services... They swear they will never submit to a Fed blanket warrant for your email traffic..

Search engine that the NSA cannot submit requests for info to.
They don't keep or track info about you.
They do track what you search for and sell that info.
But it is not tied to you.

You can also try:

https://startpage.com

Might have to go into your browser settings so it will display secure https.

You found these to be good for looking for child porn? Building bombs and threats against government officials?

Freaks.

If you actually think that our Government can stop the above, you are sadly mistaken.

I originally set up Google to open up as soon as I clicked on Firefox or Internet Explorer. Lately, I notice that Google is coming up with an "s" added to the http. That hasn't been the case before. I wonder if that is NSA's way of tapping into our private lives to find out what we are searching for? I never really thought Google was ever secure. Now, someone wants to convince me otherwise by adding the s to http. Nah, I don't believe it. I notice that none of the other search engines are configured with an s, only Google.

Long before Google, one of the best search engines was Alta Vista, but now, if you put in Alta Vista, you are linked directly to Yahoo. I don't think much of Yahoo. Then again, I rarely use Google for searching anything. i already know the name of the website so don't have to provide NSA with any entertainment.
