It was solely a US military operation, so no other "news" organization would have any information unless it was disclosed by CENTCOM, the only source authorized to disclose any information, since the life of the downed airman was hanging in the balance. BBC reported CIA involvement constructing a decoy operation. I suspect he probanly had a unique GPS beacon communicating his location to the military via a classified signal, mi!itary satellites etc. Perhaps Israel intel provided something they might of known as both nations are involved there.
