I think Second Life looks to be about as much fun as sitting through a Power Point presentation, but if I was ever gonna be tempted, this might could do it....

Yup. You build an avatar and then move it around with commands, and eventually it gets a job, home, friends, etc.

I cannot imagine ever devoting the time to it that it takes, but it's quite popular.
