Rivaling Soviet-era propaganda, notice the intellectual sleight-of-hand in the following:

Although segregation has declined overall, it remains a concern, Owens said, because segregation can be detrimental for child wellbeing. Scientific research has shown that low-income and minority children who grow up in segregated neighborhoods and attend segregated schools have worse educational and economic outcomes than children in more integrated areas. High levels of residential segregation have been linked to lower levels of income mobility across generations.

Aside from the false impression that seems intended--that segregation harms ALL children--notice how it is stated as an undeniable conclusion that racial segregation accounts for the lower life achievements of blacks who grow up in all-black neighborhoods. But if that were the case, then the county with the most upward mobility in the nation across generations--Sioux County, Iowa--should be the least segregated. In fact, the opposite is the case. Sioux County, Iowa is almost entirely white. Therefore, racial segregation has nothing to do with the poor life outcomes of inner city blacks.

More likely, upwardly mobile blacks move away from and raise children in integrated (i.e., less crime) neighborhoods. It stands to reason that the children of upwardly mobile blacks, like the children of upwardly mobile anyone, will have better life outcomes than the children of the non-upwardly mobile.

Of course, this insight is hardly sophisticated. The author of this article surely knows the reality. It always amuses me how liberals and progressives love to pat themselves on the back as being the rational, science-based segment of society, but then, when it comes to race, show exactly the opposite as their true colors. They are as bad or worse than the most foaming-at-the-mouth religious zealot.

Poor little hissy princess racist, Nelsen.
He's got a point. It isn't segregation that is responsible for the poor performance. It is the people themselves. Why do you need for it to be sugar coated, Jake?
