Schumer Vows To Fight Any Attempt To Change / Replace the ACA

Schumer hints of compromise with Trump, but not on ObamaCare

The ACA is literally collapsing under the weight of its own lies, false promises, and massively rising premiums...

...but mindless liberal DNC party/Obama defender Chuck Schumer stands poised, like the Black Knight in Monty Python's 'The Holy Grail', ready to repel anyone who seeks to 'pass'.

If I were Trump I would be temped to do nothing - except use an EO to erase the tax for not purchasing ACA insurance (Presidents can change / modify on their own how laws are enforced...a tactic used a LOT by Barry) and simply let the ACA crash and burn on it's own

The only problem with that is that many Americans wiuld suffer needlessly because Schumer / liberals want to protect Barry's legacy so badly!

Obamacare is failing. But even Trump has stated he's willing to keep parts of it and work from there. In other words, he negotiating and finding common ground so that we have the best healthcare possible. Schumer's unwillingness to budge is making him a partisan relic of the past. These types needed to be voted out of DC.
yep, the parts that were put in by the conservatives in congress.

Partisanshit, the answer to avoiding any and all responsibility.

very little for the underclasses? REally? holy crap, it's all been about the underclass for eight fking years. It's time for the people who do the work to speak out. We did.

Yes, I know, but watch it playout, k? It's just how the system works, the entire thing is based on illusion; the people are not finished carrying the aristocracy on our backs. Globalism/global capitalism is devouring societies across the globe, you ain't outta the woods pard.
why don't you take your own advice then. Let it play out. Why are you on here ranting?

You will see posts, plural, of mine saying give Trump and his appointed staff everything they want and watch it play out. You’re swinging at windmills again.
windmills spin and it's what you do best. So I'm just reminding you who you are and that you aren't letting it play out.

Yup, you're a spinner al right.
what is it I'm spinning exactly? Has trump even taken office yet?

You've lost me. So keeping the preexisting conditions part and allowing kids to stay on their parents plan longer is bad? What are you saying?

and yet, most people come to america for our services. Hmmm how does that work what you wrote?

"and yet, most people come to america for our services."

You might want to look into that belief a tad more. For instance, US pharma companies make up what Canada negotiates downward for it's prescription pricing by tacking that onto your prescription pricing.
so are you saying that when Canadians can't get into see the doctor they wait? Or do they cross into the US and see american doctors?

Sounds like you need to read the post again.
so? doesn't mention coming to the US you reference prescriptions.

A coherent sentence perhaps?
it was.

[ We have the most expensive healthcare system on the planet for pretty shitty relative healthcare outcomes. .

Thanks to government interference.

Actually it's been that way for quite some time, long before the ACA. And we have another class of people for whom govt healthcare works just fine. You vote for them. More are in the military. This just should not be for those mangy little people.

I love it when Americans talk about reforming health care and their solution is to go to a free market system. There really is no cure for stupid.

Let me guess you are Canadian. Shut up or we'll wipe out your country with our army, probably only take 3 days.

No you won't, and the american public knows how and where this issue has been tackled much more successfully for society as a whole. We have the most expensive healthcare system on the planet for pretty shitty relative healthcare outcomes. Despite a corporate state controlled media machine for indocitrination.

I would love to see the study(s) data you've seen.

those two items were built in by conservatives.

I think we're all aware that the precursor plan was rolled out by the Heritage Foundation.

Is the ACA the GOP health care plan from 1993?

"Our ruling

Qualls said the Affordable Care Act "was the Republican plan in the '90s." The bill she had in mind did have a strong roster of Republicans behind it, and it did share many major features with the Affordable Care Act. There were some significant differences but in a side-by-side comparison, the similarities dominate."

If you don't like the government giving away free shit then you can join me to advocate doing away with all welfare, subsidies, entitlements and bailouts. That goes for farm subsidies the same as health insurance subsidies. That goes for Obama's Wall Street bailouts the same as it goes for Bush's Wall Street bailouts.

Odd, the incoming administration is pushing doing away with Dodd/Frank. You'll be bailing out the banksters again soon enough.

You seem not to have noticed but his racist, xenophobic and misogynistic campaign turned off decent, reasonable people. Trump isn't a liberal. He's a populist demogogue.

For you dumbass, uninformed jackasses:

With dynamic feedback, CBO and JCT estimate that repealing the ACA would increase federal budget deficits by $137 billion over the 2016-2025 period. – Excluding feedback, deficits would increase by $353 billion.

Money will be saved when the stupid government stops giving out the friggin subsidies.

Only a stupid uneducated low information Libtard Moon Bat would try to claim that the government giving out less money to the welfare queens will somehow cost more.

Repeal the ACA & you repeal the funding generation. You people are way beyond stupid.

Any reform effort must begin with Congress. Since Obamacare became law, conservative Republicans have been offering reforms that can be delivered individually or as part of more comprehensive reform efforts. In the remaining sections of this policy paper, several reforms will be offered that should be considered by Congress so that on the first day of the Trump Administration, we can start the process of restoring faith in government and economic liberty to the people.

Congress must act. Our elected representatives in the House and Senate must:
  1. Completely repeal Obamacare. Our elected representatives must eliminate the individual mandate. No person should be required to buy insurance unless he or she wants to.
  2. Modify existing law that inhibits the sale of health insurance across state lines. As long as the plan purchased complies with state requirements, any vendor ought to be able to offer insurance in any state. By allowing full competition in this market, insurance costs will go down and consumer satisfaction will go up.
  3. Allow individuals to fully deduct health insurance premium payments from their tax returns under the current tax system. Businesses are allowed to take these deductions so why wouldn’t Congress allow individuals the same exemptions? As we allow the free market to provide insurance coverage opportunities to companies and individuals, we must also make sure that no one slips through the cracks simply because they cannot afford insurance. We must review basic options for Medicaid and work with states to ensure that those who want healthcare coverage can have it.
  4. Allow individuals to use Health Savings Accounts (HSAs). Contributions into HSAs should be tax-free and should be allowed to accumulate. These accounts would become part of the estate of the individual and could be passed on to heirs without fear of any death penalty. These plans should be particularly attractive to young people who are healthy and can afford high-deductible insurance plans. These funds can be used by any member of a family without penalty. The flexibility and security provided by HSAs will be of great benefit to all who participate.
  5. Require price transparency from all healthcare providers, especially doctors and healthcare organizations like clinics and hospitals. Individuals should be able to shop to find the best prices for procedures, exams or any other medical-related procedure.
  6. Block-grant Medicaid to the states. Nearly every state already offers benefits beyond what is required in the current Medicaid structure. The state governments know their people best and can manage the administration of Medicaid far better without federal overhead. States will have the incentives to seek out and eliminate fraud, waste and abuse to preserve our precious resources.
  7. Remove barriers to entry into free markets for drug providers that offer safe, reliable and cheaper products. Congress will need the courage to step away from the special interests and do what is right for America. Though the pharmaceutical industry is in the private sector, drug companies provide a public service. Allowing consumers access to imported, safe and dependable drugs from overseas will bring more options to consumers.

The reforms outlined above will lower healthcare costs for all Americans. They are simply a place to start. There are other reforms that might be considered if they serve to lower costs, remove uncertainty and provide financial security for all Americans. And we must also take actions in other policy areas to lower healthcare costs and burdens. Enforcing immigration laws, eliminating fraud and waste and energizing our economy will relieve the economic pressures felt by every American. It is the moral responsibility of a nation’s government to do what is best for the people and what is in the interest of securing the future of the nation.

Providing healthcare to illegal immigrants costs us some $11 billion annually. If we were to simply enforce the current immigration laws and restrict the unbridled granting of visas to this country, we could relieve healthcare cost pressures on state and local governments.

To reduce the number of individuals needing access to programs like Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program we will need to install programs that grow the economy and bring capital and jobs back to America. The best social program has always been a job – and taking care of our economy will go a long way towards reducing our dependence on public health programs.

Finally, we need to reform our mental health programs and institutions in this country. Families, without the ability to get the information needed to help those who are ailing, are too often not given the tools to help their loved ones. There are promising reforms being developed in Congress that should receive bi-partisan support.

All sounds wonderful doesn't it, before the lobbyists and lawyers carve out the big money interests in putting the cost on the working and under classes to maintain constantly increasing profit margins.

If anyone was serious about getting this done there would have never been any ACA.

Just like the ACA, the outcome for society will remain on the same trajectory despite the cosmetic rework.

All of these proposals have been put before Congress by Republicans and rejected by Democrats.

This time, we shall see.

I don't much buy into the party thing, the actual outcomes always prey upon the unsubstantial people and favor the substantial people.

But, yeah we will see. Very little change for the working and underclasses. Watch.
very little for the underclasses? REally? holy crap, it's all been about the underclass for eight fking years. It's time for the people who do the work to speak out. We did.
Prove that 3 million illegasls voted for Clinton.
The People wanted Hillary Clinton. The electoral college absurdity chose Trump.
Poor little tantrum-throwing Snowflake, The People REJECTED Hillary...TWICE.

I prefer for US citizens to elect our President. Subtract the 3 million illegals who voted this election & Hillary LOST the Popular vote by approx 1.5 million votes.

In 2008 Hillary was REJECTED.

In 2014, Obama/liberals were rejected in historic record-setting fashion

In 2016, Obama, Hillary, & liberals were REJECTED in historic record-setting fashion.
Here goes the moronic right claiming illegals voted. All you do is lie lie & lie. How many times did your orange bigot try to run & get rejected?

LOL!

I think we all know that the greedy welfare queens, environmental wackos, inner city ghetto monkeys, anti gun nuts, Feminazis, queers, illegal aliens and other Left Wing assholes that voted for Crooked Hillary are not exactly the decent people of America, don't we?

Repeal the ACA & you repeal the funding generation. You people are way beyond stupid.

You are confused. We need to stop giving welfare and subsidies to everybody. It ain't rocket science.

Nobody should be entitled to have their bills by somebody else simply because they are alive, don't you agree?

You Libtards are simply too damn stupid to know that we can do away with this fitly ass welfare state and everybody would be off.

Doing away with the entitlements of free or subsidized insurance is a good step, don't you think?

You can go live in a third world country where people are starving in the streets.

Better yet, we should not hope that one day, you don't lose your job because of a severe illness that forces you to sell everything you own so I can drive by your cardboard box & laugh at you as you sit on front holding a sign begging for money.

I like a safety net for people.

If you want to fight welfare, fight corporate welfare where you will save far more money & quit voting for Republicans.

I lived in Washington State near the Canadian border for seven years. Our doctor offices were always filled with Canadians coming to the US for medical care. They would rather pay for it here in the US than get it free in Canada.

Thank you so much for your personal anecdotal single data point observation.
