I think this is a great post, but the know-it-alls here will just argue til they're blue in the face. The US isn't just not allowing American companies to engage in commerce with Cuba but prohibiting all international banks that use the SWIFT system from allowing Cuba to open accounts and trade in the world's reserve currency, namely, the USD. I already gave a list of ways the US has turned Cuba into a financial leper, due to America's control over world banking and shipping.
If the US barrs every cargo ship that anchors in Cuba from anchoring in the US for six months, what shipping companies or countries are going to choose to do business with Cuba over the US? What country or shipping company wants their billion-dollar cargo ships in limbo, unable to do business with the largest economy in the world for the next six months because they anchored once in Cuba a few weeks or months ago?
The US government controlled by assholes like OKTexas, doesn't allow anyone to do business with Cuba, without serious repercussions and liability. Banks are fined billions of dollars for allowing the Cuban government and its citizens to open accounts with them. In the past when banks have tried to work with Cuba, they've been beaten down by OKTexas - American politicians that think like you. American imperialist, bully cowboys. They want to grind Cuba to dust financially, isolating it economically from the world, turning it into a leper colony, no one wants to do business with. Do you care? No, you like it. You're a psychopath.
You're arguing against socialism when you do this to socialist countries? Let socialism fail on its own, then you argue with some credibility, but otherwise, you're just full of shit. You have no argument.
Seems to me that Cuba was a great opportunity for the US. We have the proximity. There was the cutting of dollars from the Russians. Opportunity lost?
