Well unsupported partisan guess work aside, one of the reason Hillary supporters are quietly confident, and gop insiders are glum, is the polls tend to show more supporters of Bernie will switch to Hill than goper supporters of other candidates. That's in the linked Pew poll, for example.

But the polls don't factor in both candidates being pretty well loathed by majorities, so I don't think we can predict turnout. Although, the dems have an advantage in having two national surrogates - Bill and Obama- to deploy, while Trump is lonesome, and people won't even attend the convention.

So, when polls show something under 90% have firmed up for any of the four candidates

, and Hillary has a 4%plus lead nationally, while she will obviously lose very red states by even 30%plus, if she picks up even 1% more Bernie supporters than Trump gets of the 60% who supported other gop candidates .... she wins in a landslide.

Not that I'm making a prediction. Who knows what will happen in the next four months. But if the election happened today, she's probably win by about the same margin of Obama over Mitt, who I still think would have made a good potus.

I can see how they'd think Hillary is loathsome to the Bernie supporters. And, imo, despite polls showing otherwise, I question how many will turnout for Hillary ... unless she puts a real progressive on the ticket, and I suspect she'd prefer not to have Warren.

However, the Trumpbots depart the realm of reality when they choose to ignore that Trump is precisely what Bernie campaigned against. Bernie's charge against Hillary was simply that Hillary was too chummy with guys like Trump. And Bernie had a pretty persuasive argument to white voters who weren't around for the Slick years.
