You see, "reaching Belgorod outskirts" won't mean a victory in the conflict - the Russians will just move more forces and destroy those invaders. But it would clearly demonstrate the difference between Vietnam/US and Ukraine/Russia. There is no significant natural border between Russia and Ukraine. Therefore all US attempts to "keep this conflict limited inside internationally recognized Ukrainian borders" are useless. This conflict won't ended until the fall of Kiev or Moscow.
