Rudy Certainly Knows How To Push Their Buttons
What happened to “America’s mayor”? For millions of people outside New York, the lasting image of Rudy Giuliani is that of the man we all rooted for as he pushed his way through the streets of Lower Manhattan on September 11, 2001. He told us afterward, with the compassion and gentleness of a progressive, that “the casualties will be more than any of us can bear.” That day, Giuliani went on television to urge calm and remind New Yorkers not to take out their grief on Muslims. “We should act bravely. We should act in a tolerant way.” Days later he held an interfaith prayer service in Yankee Stadium that brought Islamic clerics together with Christians and Jews.
That was Rudy Giuliani nearly nineteen years ago, and much has changed concerning his apparently worsening mental instability. Since first becoming a cheerleader for the impeached president trump, Giuliani has seemed so addled, so much the campaign tool, he alternates between vicious then clownish in defense of the impeached president trump. At one point Rudy forgot his most famed accomplishment, insisting of the Bush presidency, “Under those eight years, before Obama came along, we didn’t have any successful radical Islamic terrorist attack in the United States.” (Although, it isn’t surprising Giuliani’s selective conservative memory would forget the 9/11/2001 WTC terrorist attacks occurred less than nine months into Dubya’s first term.)
After his promotion from cheerleader to the impeached president trump's personal lawyer, Rudy’s increasing mental fog made it even more difficult for him to focus on reality. Most recently in his delusional state, Giuliani claimed Black Lives Matter is a "domestic terrorist group". Just like the impeached president trump, Giuliani knows the vast majority of right-wingers and centrists want to believe his terrorist accusations about “Black Lives Matter”, despite the group never being tied to a single terrorism event in a global database of almost 200,000.
But Rudy knows his target audience willingly ignores facts that contradict such lies as these he rattled off during his appearance on Fox and Friends last week: " ‘These are killers, and these are people who hate white people. They're people who hate white men in particular. And they want to do away with a mother-father family,’ ” As is usual with the impeached president trump's well-oiled lie machine, there is far more evidence debunking Rudy’s lies than supporting them.
While there were two separate incidents on 7 July 2016 involving two African-Americans, both were US military veterans and allegedly invoked the phrase "black lives matter" as they opened fire on police and civilians in Dallas, Texas, and Bristol, Tennessee.
Investigators determined both men had acted alone, and that the Black Lives Matter political organization was in no way involved.
Black Lives Matter is no different than any other movement, this includes white supremacist groups, many of which are infamous for their decades of violent and murderous attacks against people of color.
Speaking to PolitiFact in July, counter-terrorism expert Joshua Geltzer, who has worked on the national security council stated, "The relevant question is whether the organization itself engages in the type of activity laid out by statute. And, on that, there's been no evidence provided to indicate as much."
Naturally, the many conservatives and centrists who always claim their knowledge to be superior to that of trained experts will be compelled to deny the validity of Geltzer’s information. It’s another, of many examples why Rudy can easily push their buttons to get their blood boiling.
