Maybe because he was the only Presidential candidate who had any idea that the economy was in shambles? Maybe because he was the only Presidential candidate with any idea of what to do since the economy was in shambles? That should certainly lend some credence to what he says.

Obviously his ideals are unsellable to the American public else he would be president now.
