Former professional boxing referee and judge Mills Lane has passed away in Las Vegas at 85 years of age.

He made the prefight saying "Let's Get It On" famous.

I was never a big boxing fan but even I remember him.

He was probably the most famous referee out there back in the 80's. Mainly because of his personality.

True. He was the referee in the Mike Tyson fight against Evander Holyfield....the one where Tyson bit off Holyfields ear. Mr. Lane was a small guy, but he was scrappy and tough.

If memory serves, he was a prison warden or something like that. His belt buckle was made by the inmates.

TBH...I though he had died like 10 years ago.

He was once a chief deputy sheriff, then went on to become a circuit judge in Nevada. He had a serious stroke back in 2002, and many thought he would not survive.
