In my opinion, the right idea is expressed by Object-Oriented Programming and its prototype Carl Hewitt's Actor Model. The idea is to decentralize and move away from the executable instruction model (algorithm). A program unit moves from executing an instruction to behaving independently in order to achieve a goal, becoming an actor - this is the main idea.
Such an independent actor can be presented both as an individual and as a social group (state, people, military unit, and so on)
And that was during the time when America was right-wing under Eisenhower and before the hippies of the 60s.
PS This can also be expressed as a transition from autistic thinking to an intellectual model based on associative self-learning.
