Rifle Optics

Nope. Why resort to insults? I own my own airplane. I fly a lot. My daughter attends ETH Zurich so when I am visiting her I get to check out the Swiss manufacturers. Amazingly enough they like visitors.

You should try it some time.

Like I said, I have the means to do what I want, when I want.
Well Harvey 2.0, I've kept my powder dry with you over the past couple years but you have grown as tiresome as the original.

Oh gee. You make me so sad. Your problem is you think you know more than anyone else and you hate it when someone else comes along who knows at least as much, if not more than you.

But you keep posting up your big 100 dollar finds, some of them are cool, some are amusing, most are boring.

But it's what you enjoy. I never begrudge someone doing what they enjoy.

Nope, I learn as I go along and try to post links that back up what I post. I learn from them myself.

At least that way everyone that has an interest has their knowledge lifted....If not, then no harm.

I can't say that I've ever learned anything from your stories.

Then you haven't bothered to look. Like I said, you do you, I never attack you for what you post. I participate when you post up something interesting. Most of what you post isn't interesting to me.

But I am an advanced collector. I just bought this at an estate sale. The lady had several nice firearms from her husband, and some shark was feeding her a line of bullshit about how they weren't worth much.

I bought all of the good ones because I hate watching old people get taken advantage of.

So I paid 1000 bucks for this revolver. I figure it's worth 1200. Maybe 1300 on a good day. But I don't care. I like .22 revolvers, and this one was made in 1930, and has its original finish.

This was the other .22 revolver she had. I gave her 900 for this one. It's probably worth about that. It is the one her husband shot the most. I put it in my old Model 57 box.

I then invited her over to my place for Christmas dinner because her kids are far away, so she would have been alone.

She's now a part of my extended family.

So, if you are at an estate sale, and it's an old person, pay them a fair price. It's the right thing to do.

If you mean a Colt officer's model then had one of those for years, I also have it's .38 special cousin. They were both available from the same consigner, so I bought them both.

I'd rate the .38 (top) as very good and the .22 (bottom) as excellent. If memory serves, I think I have around $1700 in the pair.....Both are 30s era revolvers.

I had one of the older S&W .22s like yours but I traded it off....I still have a couple of pinned K22s, a 4" and 6".

As far as "widows and orphans" go who are strangers to me.....I pay their price.....I don't worry about if it's "fair" to them or not.....Don't know them, don't care.

I don't buy from W&Os I know.....If asked I tell them to consign their weapons to a local shop that I know will give them a fair deal as far as pricing the weapon and consignment fees go and it keeps the family leeches at bay.

And you claim to have never learned anything from me, but I remember you scoffed when I made a post about me and my friends using our 10/22's for long range target competitions. We shoot 400 yards regularly, but you laughed and called me a liar.

So I posted up videos of others shooting them even further.

You never returned to that thread.

I wonder why.

Like I said, I don't attack you for what you post. You do. You can't stand it that there are people more knowledgeable about guns than you.

And you won't buy from widows you know? Why? You just can't bring yourself to pay them a fair price?

That's pretty sad.

Sigh, you are waxing tiresome again.....Harvey.

I don't like to put myself in the middle of a potential family argument over some dead guy's guns with people I know.....I'll always pass on that.....People are weird when it comes to that type of thing....I have 1st hand experience.

When my FIL passed he had eight pretty nice "Fudd" guns.....My MIL called and asked if I would come and get them as she did not want them in the house.....Fine, I picked them up and asked what she wanted me to do with them.

Just keep them she said but I told her I had no interest in them but I could put them on consignment, and she could get something for them as a couple were kinda valuable. Fine she said and that is what I did the same day.....Done and done right?

Oh fuck no!

Over the next couple weeks I kept getting these "he said I could have (insert gun name) when he died" calls. I told them where they were they could be purchased. They were not happy.

I had one SIL that would not talk to me for years over that shit! Just as well, I did not like her anyway. ;)

Despite the angst at least my MIL made some decent coin off of them.

See, you can't help yourself. Anytime you come up against someone with more skill, or knowledge, you resort to insults.

You are no doubt the most informed gun guy in your area. But I travel world wide. You read the books, I'm friends with those who WROTE the books. In fact many of them used parts of my collection for their books.

Be that as it may, you keep on being you. Enjoy what you do.

I've yet to see said "skills and knowledge", just stories. That's fine, stories are (sometimes) entertaining.

LOL....I guess, "Buy the weapon, not the story", holds true in a lot of life's aspects. ;)

10/22 long range shooting. You scoffed, I proved it. There's the skill side, and you have never posted up a thing that I have never seen.

If I say something, I back it up. You post "stories" too. Or are you not clever enough to realize that?
