Rick Perry’s Confederate Past Comes Back To Haunt Him

Jebesus!! There were as many black slaves in the North as there were in the South. I grew up in Chicago and saw more racism there than I have ever seen in Atlanta.

yep, one of the biggest racists I ever met was a mick from South Boston. He pronounced the N word with no R.

"I'll have those ******* voting Democrat for the next 200 years" - Lyndon Johnson

Look up Johnson's "Great Society" and see where we are in a generation.

I totally support the right of people to openly display their affection for the former CSA.

Makes it easier to know who they are.

And Nazis were a part of German history, but besides the NDP you don't see Germans doing the same thing.

This is NOT Socialist Europe; this is America, and I have the same right to celebrate my history and heritage as anyone else. You don't have to salute that flag; you don't even have to like it; you DO have to let me fly it! If you don't respect MY rights, then I refuse to respect YOURS. It's that simple.

You know what, fack you and your Confederate loving slaving loving descendants and your Confedewrate Flag, you can all kiss my half black ass and your dumb ass doesn't even know what a socialist is, I was maiing a pint that had nothing to do with socialism but if you want to make comparisons there wasn't much of a difference between Confederate loving white supremacist southerners during slavery and the Nazi Party, fack both of them and you.

Fuck you dirt bag............... If you understood just 25% of what you support. You would change positions.

Wow. What a horrifically wrong statement.

Prove I'm wrong. I will say perhaps not as many but yes indeed there were many, for quite some time.

African bondage in the colonies north of the Mason-Dixon Line has left a legacy in the economics of modern America and in the racial attitudes of the U.S. working class. Yet comparatively little is written about the 200-year history of Northern slavery. Robert Steinfeld's deservedly praised "The Invention of Free Labor" (1991) states, "By 1804 slavery had been abolished throughout New England," ignoring the 1800 census, which shows 1,488 slaves in New England. Recent archaeological discoveries of slave quarters or cemeteries in Philadelphia and New York City sometimes are written up in newspaper headlines as though they were exhibits of evidence in a case not yet settled (cf. “African Burial Ground Proves Northern Slavery,” The City Sun, Feb. 24, 1993).

Slavery in the North
Oh, you're going back alllll the way to colonial days...lol.

Kay. Most of the northern states abolished slavery in the 18th Century.

Let's go up to prior to the Civil War...you know, that big event that spurred it on - the South not wanting to give up their slaves.

You tell me, in 1860, there were

__________ in the North

__________ in the South.

Fill in the blanks, honey.

Nah, no he wouldn't... Flaylo's just like those Germans who knew what was going on right under their noses, knew it was wrong, but lacked the fortitude to do the right thing.

And no, I'm not calling anyone a Nazi so don't even go there.

So it was OK for slaves to be in the North as long as it was a long time ago.

LOL you need to work on your American history. ;)

Of course it's OK. Ignoring relevant data is what so many partisans do. AGW, is a prime example.

He's supposed to tell his campaign staff this stuff BEFORE entering the race. It's called "vetting". Something they apparently didn't do too well w/ Paylin. Wonder if he did?

So it's OK to use a metric from the time where there only 13 colonies and just a few years after we became the United States -- with part of the reason we wrote slavery into the Constitution being the stubborn Slaveholding Southern state reps insisting on that compromise?

I think someone needs to brush up a little more than I do.

I noticed you didn't fill in the blanks. Of Course. That would make your statement look pretty stupid, in retrospect.

Rick Perry's Confederate Past Comes Back To Haunt Him | News One

Isn't it facking funny how the citizens of Right-Wingistan, especially its black ones, like talking about Democrats being the party of slavery and the Confederate Army yet its today's Republicans that are the primary supporters of Confederate symbols and Confederate organizations? Black Republicans are speechless.

MY ancestors were Confederates, yes, I still fly the flag, yes, I belong to the SCV, no, I'm not afraid of you, and you and the racist NAACP can go to hell! Don't like my flag? I'll take it down when you and your cowardly corrupt, racist little NAACP can MAKE me! YOU ain't man enough to even try! Don't like other people having pride in their family heritage? FUCK YOU, BIGOT!

I didn't realize this thread was about you. Are you Rick Perry? You shouldn't use the word "ain't", it makes you look ignorant.

It reminds me of those sad trailer houses I drive past sometimes where the owners have the battleflag in the front yard flying and I think to myself: "Sad people".

No one wants to take your right to free speech away. It's just one of those things that causes people to draw conclusions about you, whether right or wrong.

Holy shit...

Looks like a Texas A&M cadet uniform to me- as in U.S. Army ROTC, you brain-dead twit! Oh, that's right, I forgot; you don't know anything about that! Or were you one of the "spitters", back in the day?

The Corps of Cadets does not equal ROTC anymore than the Citadel equals ROTC. Most cadets in those two groups will not go on to serve in the military. That's not an official ROTC uniform.
