Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. called on senior food company executives to remove artificial dyes from their products, warning them in a meeting this week that he would take action if they did not.

Bloomberg reported that Kraft Heinz Co. and General Mills Inc. were among the food companies in attendance at Monday's gathering.

According to a letter from the Consumer Brands Association (CBA) that described the meeting and was viewed by the outlet, "Kennedy expects 'real and transformative' change by 'getting the worst ingredients out' of food."

Good, now do MSG and aspartame.

Also, look for sodium aluminum phosphate and sodium aluminum sulfate, then don't buy it.

Aluminum is bad in any quantity.

BTW.....Look up Yellow #5, it's basically waste sludge from oil refinement.

Wow, this doesn't seem like a big priority, somehow.

But Bobby Brainworm is on a mission.

It should be pointed out all these additives (most of them to keep the food fresh, others to make it more appealing) have been proven safe.
LOL.....Next you will be sayin' that they come "doctor recommended".

yellow 5 is linked to hyperactivity in children. And how does our fucked up society respond to that? Put them on ADHD medicine.

Technically speaking, 100% of every product that the FDA has ever recalled was first proven safe.

Well so far one of the few things I agree with. I produce a good percentage of my own food. Mainly because of what is put in the food you buy at the store. Most of what is there is un healthy. I am old and single. Not sure how many more years my body will take the current demand on it. I would like to be able to trust the products from the store more. I may have to eat more of it some day.

I feel the same way.

I drive 25 miles (there and back) to shop for groceries that are free of the additives, but reality says that I may not have that resource some day. I have done a lot of canning and dehydrating and freezing of food I trust, but some day I may have to rely on the food from the little local store, and it will be nice knowing that at least some of that food is more safe than it used to be.

I rarely ever get any kind of sickness. The few times it has happened was after eating out. I rarely eat out these days.

I feel ya. I have a 14 mile drive to any store. The food I grow or slaughter myself I know I can trust. I use to enjoy eating out can only get Montezuma's revenge so many times before the joy of eating out is taken away. At a restaurant not only are the products used for make suspect but only God knows if they kitchen help even washed their hands before handling.

I am so fortunate, and wish the same for you.

I live in the sticks, and many of the people in my church are farmers and are very transparent about how they raise and feed their livestock and produce.

I wish the same for everyone. No one deserves to eat the poison they sell in most stores.

Do you have a link to that?

In the 1920s, there was some controversy about whether or not tartrazine had negative effects on the health of children. Some people claimed it caused hyperactivity. But it wasn't until 1973 when these concerns started gaining attention in the scientific field. Research suggested that certain food additives, including salicylates, caused learning problems in children.

‌Further research failed to prove these claims. In 2004, an attempt to demonstrate the correlation between tartrazine exposure and hyperactivity failed to provide conclusive results once again.‌

The Food Agriculture Organization and the World Health Organization conducted safety studies to test tartrazine in 2017. They concluded that occasional exposure to this food dye doesn't represent a significant health concern in children or adults.

Stay healthy my friend. I plan to produce as much if my own food as possible for as long as possible.

So if you bath in the stuff, you might have a problem.

Got it.
