Einheittaggen ... I'm too gender-confused to attempt the definite article ... any help would be appreciated ...

German unification was certainly good for East Germany ... can't say I'm heard any remorse from West Germany, not that I'm listen anyway ... the United States is still the greatest German nation on Earth ...

But we do like broad brushes here on these boards ... so why not ... everything caused by the fall of the Soviet Union is good ... including German unification ... I'll stake my reputation as a German Historian on it ...

This was a big part of it being a good thing.

German–Polish Border Treaty - Wikipedia

With German reunification finally within reach in 1990, the Allies of World War II made full sovereignty for Germany conditional on the final recognition of the Oder–Neisse border, as stipulated in article 1.2 of the Treaty on the Final Settlement with Respect to Germany.[4] The signing of a treaty between Germany and Poland recognizing the Oder–Neisse line as the border under international law was also one of the terms of the Unification Treaty between West and East Germany that was signed and went into effect on 3 October 1990. Poland also wanted this treaty to end the ambiguity that had surrounded the border issue since 1945.[

My opinion is that groups of people who share a common culture should be able to align themselves in any way they want. The diversity of Europe is being threatened by the mass importation of primitive people, but I rather like the idea of Italy for the Italians, France for the French and Germany for the Germans.

Oregon is for Native Americans then? ...

today it is celebrated again.

it was a good thing, then

I never thought I would live to see the day the Berlin Wall came down. I was Nine-Years Old and watched some of it on TV with my Dad. His editor called (The Memphis Commercial Appeal) and they needed a re-write of the front page. Dad came home three days later.

The current illegal moscovite 🇷🇺 bandit imperialistic gang was only formed in 1991, what exactly are they talking about?

Oregon is for Native Americans then? ...
I remember waking into a bar in Klamath Falls 50 years ago and it took my friend and I a bit for our eyes to adjust, but when they did, we realized we were in a native American hangout as they were all staring at us. We simply said "sorry to intrude" and found another place.

And this justifies the cold-blooded murder of every last Calapooia? ...

I was at Camp Lejeune watching all of that as it unfolded. And was sure it meant one of two things.

Either it was going to be a repeat of Tiananmen Square, or the end of the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union. And I was very much divided on which one it would be.

What's the alternative to German reunification? The freaking Berlin Wall?

Which in the end was absolute proof of the wonders of Socialism and Communism.

It was so absolutely amazing, that they had to erect a wall around an entire city and half a continent in order to keep the starving and oppressed refugee Capitalists from overrunning their system.

Just as today, North Korea is a Utopia that they have to fight to keep all outsiders out of.

My now wife and I watched at the Wall came down. I was grade when it sent up. I never thought it would happen. Gorbachev pretty much allowed it to happen. He the Soviet Union was dead.

The dirty little secret is that the Berlin Wall happened on JFK's watch and he did nothing except give a speech where he referred to himself as a "berliner" which was slang for a jelly donut at the time. It came down on Reagan's watch.
