Maybe Cindy?

I always worried about shortening a girl's name. I'd give a girl the long version of the name, in case she wants to use it when she gets older. If you're a Cindy, I'd think you'd want to use Cynthia as you age -- more dignified. Funny that I thought of such a thing when I was just a kid. Who'd want to be a grandma Cindy?

Or a Grandma Candy, for that matter.

I had a step-niece named Anastasia. They called her Stasia. No one ever called her Ann or Anna.

I also had an aunt Kathryn. She went by the name of Honey. Not sure where she picked that up, except she was also my favorite Aunt, sweet as honey or even candy.

Bothe beautiful choices for girls' names.

I like that parents are going for more old-fashioned girls' names these days -- Grace is one that I love.

Everyone called my mother Toots. To his dying day, my dad still always called her by that.

When she was young, they said she was the spitting image of Doris Day to the point that 1-2 times, people accused her of actually being her.

It is rather amazing (and telling) all of the classical names which were all still in common use when I was growing up, good, traditional Christian names, which have literally disappeared now.

Anymore when I hear a name, I say: "What?" What is that? I never heard of it before. Half of them sound made up.
