It says they are negotiating with republicans so they can "declare victory".
Surely the Democrats don't believe a word of what the public says they really want.... Must be the hint that they are about to screw up really really bad... Nancy Pelosi is whispering in Obama's ear, "Don't be a dumb ass, Barack. If I loose this job nobody else will hire me!"
We'll see. It would be truly tragic if the misinformation and absurdity thrown around over this bill won. It would be a victory for brainwashing and corporations, and nothing more, as far as I'm concerned.
We already have a public option; it simply isn't open to everyone. And yet, capitalism survives, we haven't descended into the deep dark pit of socialism, or any other stupid talking points meant to satiate the followers. I do find it funny, however, that Britain has been classified as "socialist" for the purposes of healthcare discussion. That's so stupid it's hilarious.
The national dialogue on this issue has been and remains the blathering of idiots drowning out the logical.

I was more talking about the negotiating part. If you want to assume the reasons for it, that's up to you, but the whole "both sides negotiating" thing was a a major part of his platform. I mean, seriously - negotiating with the other side is partisanship...not negotiating with the other side is partisanship...that doesn't really work for me. Either way, I don't particularly care what the motivation is, as long as the job gets done.

They may not be a socialist nation, but they have a socialist health care system.
