Restaurants with good hamburgers?

I agree with BBQ joints being the best for a good burger accept unfortunately in my hometown of Orlando Orange County
Florida. The BBQ joints there went down the tubes as far as quality of food and service and the prices are way too high.
There used to be a couple of great places here, but they're all closed now. :(
They had that Master Purveyors Prime meat.

From my grill. Restaurant burgers are garbage. And i would nevrr want to see a restaurant prosper.

The majority of restaurant burgers are pretty bad - none come even close to those you make at home if you have any skills whatsoever.
The ones that are good, are not going to be a chain store. And only if they use 80/20 quality ground beef. Not the pink grocery store quality which is what 99% of the "fresh" burger makers use.
Ground beef should have a dark-dark red color - not cherry red-pink.
The pink color comes from high oxygen exposure during processing. Meaning the meat has been exposed to the outside air for extended periods of time.
Oxidation has a profound effect on how beef taste.
Really? I have heard it's the other way around, when beef is exposed to air, it becomes oxidized, and then turns dark. Pink-looking beef is the fresh beef.

Checkers/Rally's
Wataburger
Wendy's Double
Steak n' Shake
I like Steak n' Shake but I have always had horrible service wherever I go, but the food is great! I love Whataburger, but we don't have Checker's/Rally's here. I will eat that when I can get it. Wendy is ready standby.

Boston Burger in Medford, or Mr. Bartley's in Harvard Sq.
Speaking where to not get good hamburger?
Never buy Walmart tube ground beef, aw geez.
I just made a bunch of tacos with it..it was a big tube and had a yellow tag and the price was good..
and that sorry ground beef detracts from the tacos. It's tough and dry, and I didn't cook it wrong. :nono:
No beef flavor, even. They must do something funky to them cows in AK. :(
Local stuff or Aldi's only from here on out.

I don't venture out too far just for an occasional hamburger. Luckily there are so many burger places within 2 miles of us, as the crow flies: McDonalds (2), Burger King, Wendy's, Carl's Jr., In-And-Out, Culver's, Whataburger, A&W, Jack-in-the-Box, plus coming soon is a Ted's Hot Dogs which I've known to serve up a great burger. I'm not going twice that distance to get to Five Guys, Smashburger, Red Robin, Habit Burger, etc. just for a burger.

I prefer to get out the charcoal grill but there's another month of high temperatures to get through before outdoor grilling season. So, of those above my favorite will be Ted's, but right now our go-to place is Culver's. Also, within those 2 miles we have a Texas Road House and while my wife will have a every-so-often will have a desire for ribs, a few times I've had their cheeseburger which is yummy.

The best burgers I've had so far here in N. Texas are Red Robins.

As for fast food burgers, I like:

Burger King
Wendys (no so much anymore though)
In and Out

And we are supposed to get a White Castle around here sometime soon.

They opened one up back in the 80's here, and had to close down because they couldn't keep up the pace with the mile long line of customers they had waiting every day. I never got the chance to go.

White Castles are designed for 3:30 AM with a hangover. They are the Northeast's answer to waffle house.

I would submit that, like most food, the places with the best barbeque, 'Southern food,' burgers, etc etc. are locally run restaurants. I was reminded of that this weekend when we went to Seguin and ate a the 1838 Grill, a local eatery that just beats the crap out of place like Cracker Barrel and IHOP. I had not had chicken fried steak that good in literal decades.

I used to really like burgers from Ruby Tuesday or Ham's but both those chains went tits up. I am not a burger snob though. Smash burgers are about the only ones I don't like. If I wanted a half-burnt burger, I would just ask my wife to cook me one.
