Considering Nate Silver Doesn't Engage in Trolling and the Popular social media madness of the day, We have decided to post here in "The Clean Debate Zone" a great resource From Nate Silver's Bulletin. Hopefully any debating of the data and opinions will be based on what is put forth by Nate and his team. Facts can be debated, but an eventual outcome of acceptability is usually warranted. Facts can be agreed upon, even when how any facts are presented is seen as debatable. This type of thing used to be the accepted norm of disagreements not being disagreeable.

This is from the free side of the Bulletin, not the paid subscription side of it. What is great about Silver is how he explains and lays it all out -- how his team and he uses data, what data they use, and much, much more. It's all pretty transparent, which is usual in this age of translucency (dare I even suggest opaqueness?), posing as transparency.

At 47%, President Donald Trump's initial job approval rating for his second term is similar to the inaugural 45% reading during his first term, again placing him below all other elected presidents dating back to 1953. Trump remains the only elected president with sub-50% initial approval ratings, and his latest disapproval rating (48%) is three percentage points higher than in 2017, marking a new high for inaugural ratings.

Quite the interesting analysis. Do you have a source or two you are using, that you would care to share here?

From the White House and a highly partisan, MAGA attack group on X using (Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll, Feb. 19-20, 2025) out of a fuller context?

I'm not sure how your post addresses the OP: "debating of the data and opinions, based on what is put forth by Nate and his team"

but, okay

please delete this post that serves as nothing but an attack and fails to address the OP and fails to add anything of substance here.

I will delete this after you do ya delete so as to keep the thread on the rails.
You said that was from the white house... so I said they are the most reliable source... why would you want that deleted?... Trump is more popular than ever...

stop spam trolling the thread

read the OP
You are having a breakdown dude relax... Trump's popularity this term dwarfs his first term numbers and Biden's numbers....

Nate Silver is all over the place... was once reliable but not so much anymore...

Gallup

While googling to find it, which you could have easily done, I found more

Trump’s Approval Ratings Plummet As His Unpopular Agenda Jacks Up Costs

Trump's Job Approval Rating at 45%; Congress' Jumps to 29%

Do you have any polls that are more favorable to your messiah?

This is assuming tariffs are unfair. Or that we were being tariff'ed.

Also, every country protects it's vital industries with tariffs. It's because they want those jobs in their country. Those jobs are VITAL to their economies. Anything else they can buy from other countries if it'll save consumers money. But not vital jobs that are VITAL to their economies. I can't stress this enough.

The only country that didn't protect their vital industries with tariffs was the USA and that was on purpose. During the Bush years, Republicans wanted to end all those overpaid union jobs overseas.

So it's crazy that today they say they want to bring jobs back home. Not those jobs. They paid too well.

So a blanket tariff to Canada and Mexico is stupid. If Trump wants to target certain products or industries great. But what he's doing is just stupid. And too late. He's tariffing EVERYTHING.

I think when you look into the details of our trade agreement you'll see our trade deals are reciprocal.

And remember, if they are not, it's because corporations on our side wanted to manufacture in counties where it's cheaper to make shit. They wanted to break those unions.

And Republicans created NAFTA, shoved it down our throats, then blamed Clinton for signing it.

It was bipartisan... 132 Republicans and 102 Democrats.... voted for NAFTA... and a democrat president signed it into law....

Notice ALL the Republicans voted for it? Notice FEWER Democrats voted for it? Notice BUSH and Reagan invented NAFTA?

NAFTA was a done deal when Clinton won. It's like every other president has to honor a deal that the previous president made. I mean unless it's a completely horrible deal. But free trade at that point was a done deal. Besides, Clinton wasn't that liberal. Of course he went along. He was a master triangulator remember?

Also, did you know Clinton put worker and environmental protections into NAFTA before he signed it? Want to bet Bush removed those protections? And if he didn't, Trump did?
