All too often these controversial ironies degenerate into vulgar repartee that only take a part of some item and then does the very thing they complain about in the first place. Let me see if I can say that clearly: My hyperbole is condemned but the condemnation is equivalent hyperbole.
I also love it when someone takes each sentence and attempts some refutation. Imagine conversation happening that way. You are allowed one sentence then counterpoint, next sentence. Somethings hold together on their own, others are better whole, and if you criticize Obama for doing pretty much what Bush did then you are a real hypocrite or simply suffering from ADD.
Yes, Clinton too is part of the problem. NAFTA and other corporate welfare policies are killing working people everywhere, not just in the US. Why do no republicans bring up outsourcing when they discuss jobs? Any ideas.
"Wasn't illegal, Saddam violated [sp] the terms of the armistice." Boy, that's a beaut. So sovereign nations are under our thumb? And thought you guys hated the UN. Again witness the complexity, irony, and contradiction of positions taken simply for the sake of argument.
"I support stores that give me the best buy for my money, like WalMart." Most do but if you can afford to support the American lifestyle then why not do it. I prefer supporting a fair living wage and my neighbors. (I laugh because my son is worse than me and buys American products you'd never even think were still made here.)
Walmart workers have tried and tried to unionize, the one store that got close was closed in Canada. And people need work so while I don't support walmart I would support their workers in any effort to unionize or obtain a fair wage.
And both our recent American cars were made here. A older Buick we gave to family was made in Canada, but I love Canada for camping, hiking, and fishing and the people are friendly. And they are a fair trading partner. I am not an isolationist, I just believe we need to support our own too.
