Republicans walk tightrope in defending Trump, condemning weaponization of DOJ

You’re ignorant because you choose to be ignorant.

Deep down, you know that Trump is super corrupt and to justify it, you have to pretend like the other side is just as corrupt.

And anyone that tries to change your mind is to be ignored.

You missed sit, huh?

You're wasting your time

Lois Lerner.

Now STFU
What was did the investigation uncover? What was she charged with and when was she indicted?

Conservatives claimed that they were specifically targeted by the IRS, but an exhaustive report released by the Treasury Department's Inspector General in 2017 found that from 2004 to 2013, the IRS used both conservative and liberal keywords to choose targets for further scrutiny.

Initial reports described the selections as nearly exclusively of conservative groups with terms such as "Tea Party" in their names. According to Republican lawmakers, liberal-leaning groups and the Occupy movement had also triggered additional scrutiny, but at a lower rate than conservative groups. The Republican majority on the House Oversight Committee issued a report, which concluded that although some liberal groups were selected for additional review, the scrutiny that these groups received did not amount to targeting when compared to the greater scrutiny received by conservative groups. The report was criticized by the committee's Democratic minority, which said that the report ignored evidence that the IRS used keywords to identify both liberal and conservative groups.

In January 2014, James Comey, who at the time was the FBI director, told Fox News that its investigation had found no evidence so far warranting the filing of federal criminal charges in connection with the controversy, as it had not found any evidence of "enemy hunting", and that the investigation continued. On October 23, 2015, the Justice Department declared that no criminal charges would be filed. On September 8, 2017, the Trump Justice Department declined to reopen the criminal investigation into Lois Lerner, a central figure in the controversy.

OMG, just OMG.

Jones you should give it a rest. After your side weaponized the IRS and FBI?

Seriously?

The FBI has been “weaponized” since Hoover used his files to blackmail successive administrations, you moron.

Nixon used the IRS to go after his enemies, as has Donald Trump. He sent the IRS after Jim Comey is his first administration.

Trump is the first to use “mortgage fraud” to go after his enemies, though. It worked for the prosecutor in the Freddy Gray case in Baltimore. Trump had her imprisoned but Biden pardoned her.

Trump’s attempt to go after Leticia James failed when the prosecutor declined to bring charges against either James or Jim Comes, because of “lack of evidence”. Trump fired the prosecutor.

If you were actually paying attention to what Trump is doing, you would have known that.

So what you're saying is is that republicans don't actually walk in lock step and are allowed to have disagreements? Imagine that. Must be a foreign concept for democrats that demand total obedience to the hive mind.

Did any of you ever stop to consider the possibility that the DoJ prosecuted Trump because he committed crimes?
~~~~~~
When they found Trump did not commit any crimes, the DoJ and Trump's DSA opposition made up crimes...
Delusional.
Letitia James has solely focused on investigating Donald Trump since taking office, alleging that he committed fraud by exaggerating the value of his assets. Her political platform included holding powerful figures accountable, which she emphasized during her campaign against Trump
Letitia James was elected. She’s not a member of the DoJ.
‘Republicans find themselves in a delicate position, backing the president even as they voice concerns over the politicization of institutions traditionally seen as nonpartisan after President Donald Trump openly urged the Justice Department to pursue investigations into his political rivals.
In an interview with NBC’s Kristen Welker on "Meet the Press" on Sunday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) called for politics to be kept out of the judicial system.
“Lawfare in all forms is bad,” the Kentucky Republican said. “We need to get politics out of the judicial system as much as we can,” Paul said.
Paul’s remarks came hours after Trump publicly called for Attorney General Pam Bondi to press forward on investigations against former FBI director, James Comey, Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) and New York Attorney General Letitia James.’
Republicans have only themselves to blame – they created the monster that is the criminal Trump regime.
Republicans are also cowards, they can’t defend Trump while trying to condemn Trump’s weaponization the DOJ.
Elected officials have to walk that tightrope, I don't.
If our side doesn't give the Democrats back some of what they gave us for nine years, they will just do it again, if they ever win a presidential election.
If your side wants the retaliatory lawfare to stop, your leaders should apologize in public to Trump and his supporters and ask Republicans to work with them on bi-partisan legislation to pass criminal laws against using the justice system the way it was used on Trump.
