George Wallace was a Democrat, the Klan was exclusively made up of Democrats. Even up to the Civil War, there were Northern Democrats and Southern Democrats. The Northern Democrats, led by Stephen Douglas, believed in letting the people of the territories vote on slavery. The Southern Democrats, following the views of John C. Calhoun, insisted that slavery be national.

It was the Republicans who ended slavery, though.
