The US House Foreign Affairs Committee will from now on only refer to the West Bank by its biblical name, Judea and Samaria, the Axios news site reports, citing an internal committee memo sent yesterday by its chairman Rep. Brian Mast, a Florida Republican, to the 50 GOP staffers on the panel.

The report says Mast wrote that “in recognition of our unbreakable bond with Israel and the inherent right of the Jewish people to their ancient homeland, the House Foreign Affairs committee will, from here forward, refer to the West Bank as Judea and Samaria in formal correspondence, communication and documentation.”

"Jewish roots in this region span centuries,” he added, and “as representatives of the American people, we must do our part to stem this reprehensible tide of antisemitism and recognize Israel’s rightful claim to the cradle of Jewish civilization.”

This is not US government policy, but it reflects the support of many in the party for Israel’s annexing of the territory it seized from Jordan in the Six-Day War in 1967.

US President Donald Trump promised some three weeks ago that the administration would likely announce the matter of West Bank annexation within four weeks.

It has been a long time coming but it is very nice to see Israeli rights to Judea and Samaria recognized by the US Congress.

Judea has not existed for over 800-Years. Nice try, no banana.

Judea like the rest of Israel has always existed. A nation is not a piece of land or a piece of paper, it is a culture, and since the tenth century Jews around the world have ended the Passover service with the promise, Next year in Jerusalem, and now the culture and religion of Judaism has been reunited with the land that spawned it creating the nation of Israel.

Neither the Muslims nor the Arabs nor the so called Palestinians can claim that kind of distinct national culture related to the land. They are just people living there, and while they can claim individual rights, they have no basis for claiming collective rights to the land. The west bank of the Jordan river is simply where Judea and Samaria are located, and the term, Palestinian, simply refers to people who live in the geographical area known as Palestine and not to a national culture as Arab propagandists would have you believe.

NO, it has not. Judea ceased to exist a long time ago. Get your head out of your ass and learn how to think for yourself.

That makes no sense at all. How did it cease to exist? The land didn't vanish, the culture was kept alive by Jews all over the world, so it makes no sense to claim it vanished. The fact that some Arabs live there now does not mean it ceased to exist.

Excellent. The language used by the international community has been corrupted over the years and decades, implying a status for an unrealized state of "Palestine" which does not exist in law or reality. Time to assert correct language again.

Not that the name change will stop the legion of zombified cretins, brainwashed by 80 years of 2 state solution, from continuing to babble about a future palestinian state for the next 40 years...
