Read 'em and weep: President Trump's Big Beautiful Bill approaches final vote

The STD deduction is over $30K married joint now. You need high property and income to reach that level. So those are elite coastal DEMs mostly, they get a small amount more? Is it worth the hassle itemizing?

SALT is State & local taxes...not military.

The standard deduction is still way too little.
Once you include reasonable mortgage costs or rents, the cost of transportation, food, clothing, etc., that is not enough.
But it is even worse for single people.
Rent alone is almost $25k per years.

I always itemize because you get to write off things like property taxes, interest, rental depreciation, etc.
But it is wrong they do not let you write off basic expensive like food.

It's gloating time, hey Dems...

Most likely the dems and repubs are fake, and both on the same side, of the wealthy elite.
If not, then we would have had public health care over 70 years ago, like most countries do.

oh Hakeem

I wonder if or when democrats start feeling like total idiots with his lectures and filibusters going absolutely nowhere. I mean, it is not like anyone is even listening to him.

Democrats remind me of Calvin (of Calvin & Hobbs) being dragged to the table kicking and screaming fighting not to eat his vegetables.

Stop it! Stop working me!!! I lived in CA, owned a $544K home. I made 6 figures. You write off Mortgage interest and State income or local taxes + property tax!!!! It is hard to exceed $32K!!! Stop it! Stop it on me!!!!! Property taxes were 1.125%. (~$6K per year, I forget annually or twice per year?) Income taxes were $5K-$6K I think. Mortgae interest varied all over. $1000 $2000? Per month!!!! Depends on rate.
No tell me how you beat $32K? STD was right on foe normal people.

If to got a $10million hone...uh yeah. Coastal or hills.....Elitist. CA dems. You itemize. Trump 2017 saved us ALL a bunch of headache!!!!

Car registration? $500? Medical? Must be 7% of income? SHUP. It's a mess. Trump saved us!!!!! Mt. RUSHMORE!!!!! YOU DUMB OX.

No, you missed the point.
You are trying to say that they do not allow things like renters to write off rent, food, etc., so the standard deduction is better than what you are allowed to itemize.

But what I was saying is that IF they allowed people to write off their true cost of doing business, it would include rent, food, transportation, etc. and that would be much more than the current standard deduction.

Anyone here read the whole bill?
I've been looking and the final version isn't online yet.

Take a look at posts 169 and 170, right above here.

They don't care about what's in it, or how much it costs. They just want to feel like they've won something.

LOL how embarrassing for you! It's called winning, something you don't know how to do. :5_1_12024: Democrats, LOL

Its NOT "winning".
The National Debt is already $37 trillion.
That much is hard to finance.
So we may be paying as much as 10% interest on it.
Which means every year we are throwing away $3.7 trillion on just keeping even on the debt interest.
That is $3.7 trillion we will have to generate in taxes but not get to spend.
So the couple trillion more this budget bill proposes, could be enough to make us go under.
If we can't pay the interest or no one wants to loan us the money, then we go bankrupt, our currency becomes worthless, and we become a third world, banana republic.
