The man who breaks into a pharmacy and steals medication for his dying child is still stealing, but the justice system should treat him differently than a man who breaks into a pharmacy to steal opioids to sell. There is nothing wrong with a binary choice. However, there is something wrong with false alternatives. The correct question is whether we should have a complete wall or not. If not, should we tear down the wall we already have?
