I haven't seen much "gushiness" over Rand, in all honesty. His desperate attempts to be taken seriously by the Republican establishment have been flops as far as I can tell. His Heritage Foundation speech was laughed at, and his position on Hagel has lacked any kind of intellectual consistency. He's also alienated a large portion of his father's base with some of his foreign policy positions.
