Rand Paul floats Elon Musk for House Speaker

I nominate Tiger King for Speaker!

No, wait.

I nominate Angela Merkel!

Let's own the libs!

Musk can't be speaker....he's not a natural born USA citizen, and the Speaker is in the immediate line of succession position after VP.
Wrong. They will just skip him.

Musk wouldn't accept the job of Speaker.

He still has to run Tesla and Twitter.

That's right, I said Twitter. Fuck "X".
Good gawd you are such a little cry baby bitch
Arent you old? But you act like a twelve year old girl? lolz

/—-/ The Speaker is
next in line to assume the presidency after the VP. Musk is not eligible since he’s born in Africa.
But hey, that didn’t stop Obama.
He is not eligible to be president, but that doesn't mean he can't be speaker of the house. Lord forbit that something would happen to trigger the line of progression to be president, but if the specker of the house were not eligible to be president, then I suspect it would simply go to the next person that is eligible in the progression.

The U.S. Constitution and the Presidential Succession Act of 1947 outline the presidential order of succession. The line of succession of cabinet officers is in the order of their agencies’ creation.

  1. Vice President
  2. Speaker of the House
  3. President Pro Tempore of the Senate
  4. Secretary of State
  5. Secretary of the Treasury
  6. Secretary of Defense
  7. Attorney General
  8. Secretary of the Interior
  9. Secretary of Agriculture
  10. Secretary of Commerce
  11. Secretary of Labor
  12. Secretary of Health and Human Services
  13. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development
  14. Secretary of Transportation
  15. Secretary of Energy
  16. Secretary of Education
  17. Secretary of Veterans Affairs
  18. Secretary of Homeland Security

I'm sorry realities hit you like this. That's sad.

Technically he doesn't. Hell, technically the House Speaker doesn't even have to be elected to the House to be the House Speaker. They can select anyone that would get the required majority vote of the House members.

What would happen is that * * IF * * something were to happen to Trump, Vance would become President. If something happened to Vance then they would look to the House Speaker. Since Musk isn't a Natural Born Citizens (having been naturalized in 2002), he is not eligible to become President.

So he would simply be skipped and the President Pro Tempore of the Senate would become President of the United States.

Great. A 91 year old president!

Rand gets it. Now THIS would help America for four years, no question. You have politicians who are beholden to others or just unconcerned about your debt and what it could mean for the world if it continues.

Is it possible for Musk to somehow get into politics and become House Leader? According to this article, yes, he can be.

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) is floating Elon Musk to be Speaker of the House after the powerful, billionaire tech businessman helped torpedo a bipartisan agreement on a short-term spending bill.
Why it matters: He's the first GOP lawmaker to explicitly suggest Musk should be Speaker, and his comments come as Speaker Mike Johnson's (R-La.) bid to keep his job is under serious threat.

  • Musk has already emerged as one of the most powerful voices in politics and has become one of President-elect Trump's closest confidants.
What he's saying: "Nothing would disrupt the swamp more than electing Elon Musk," Paul posted on X on Thursday morning.

  • "[T]hink about it . . . nothing's impossible. (not to mention the joy at seeing the collective establishment, aka 'uniparty,' lose their ever-lovin' minds)"
  • Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) — a frequent Johnson critic — reposted Paul's comments, adding that she'd be "open to supporting Musk" for Speaker.
  • "The establishment needs to be shattered just like it was yesterday," she said. "This could be the way."
Between the lines: The Constitution does not specify that the Speaker of the House has to be a member of the chamber — though they always have been.

  • Non-representative names have been floated over the years during Speaker elections.
  • Paul has long been an advocate for slashing government spending, though he is in the wrong chamber to have much say over who will win the Speakers' gavel in January's floor vote.

I love it!

You think your spiking of the ball means something.

I have bad news for you. It doesn't.

Not after all the bitching and whining and lying about 2020 you all have done in the wake of that election for the past four years.

There are no worse sore losers than Trump and his cult.

None. In the entire history of the United States.

Let me know when Harris supporters sack the Capitol.

President pro tem.

The current President Pro Tempore of the Senate is 74. Not sure who it will be in January 2025, but I doubt (S)he will be 91.

The current president is a Democrat. That's going to change back to the Republicans in January.

Chuck Grassley, the previous president pro tem. 91 years old.

Show me where I was saying the election was stolen, you binary dipshit.
Talk about your immaturity and then you go into a TDS rant. Like what trump would do..
You and trump have so much in common its crazy!

Welcome to chaos 2.0.

Can Mike Johnson Survive As Speaker?

Support for Mike Johnson to remain as speaker seemed to evaporate Wednesday:

  • Punchbowl: “The speaker election is in 15 days. There are members–more than a dozen–who assert that Johnson won’t be the speaker in the next Congress. It’s early. Let’s see how Johnson gets out of this mess.”
  • Politico: “Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, a frequent Johnson antagonist, on Wednesday became the first Republican to publicly say he will vote against him for speaker on Jan. 3. Other Republicans, including some who previously said they would support him, now won’t commit to backing him, despite Trump endorsing Johnson just over a month ago.”
  • WaPo: “Two other GOP members, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss the sensitive topic, said the question of support [for Johnson] was likely moot: Based on defections that had yet to become public, Johnson would probably be forced out of the running before lawmakers would have to make up their minds on Jan. 3, the member said.”

Maybe trump will make Eric the Speaker. How awesome would that be!

/---/ If you haven't already, watch Designated Survivor on Netflix. It's about the president and all 18 in the line of session die in a terrorist bomb at the Capitol. The first season is great, but it runs out of steam by the third.
