You are such a derpSure. Come to think of it, we should probably have a term for that continuum.I'm not referring to the specifics of the underlying issues, I'm just talking about the constant use of the term.Zoooooom, right over your head. And yes, the word has serious meaning and implications, and it's been so over-used that it's damn near become a punchline.Only according to racists. Because the word has serious meaning and implications.
I know you don't "see" it. Just as I know Trumpsters don't "see" my point about "socialism".
Peas in a pod.
.
Well, I'm a Trumpster, so it is only natural I disagree somewhat on Socialism and Racism being abused in the same way. I think it is quite clear with the Democrat candidates giveaway sweepstakes competition, that increased government involvement in daily lives is an issue. Also, I don't think it is a mystery about what conservatives consider 'socialism'. We are not quibbling over precise kinds of socialism, who controls what and to what extent, or what the correct kind of socialism actually is. It is a simple reference to increased government power and reduced individual choice. It is that simple. I don't think that compares to calling milk racist.
It doesn't matter what a term is or under what context it is used. Any term will ultimately become diluted with constant use.
Then, multiply that by the emotions behind these two words and it's just worse.
I think we can agree that we've fallen into a hyperbole trap, where we just plant the most emotional label we can on any given situation. It's easy, but it just makes words meaningless after a while, doesn't it?
.
Is there another word that is a blanket term for increased government involvement? It may be annoying, but it is fairly accurate in conveying that meaning. It seems appropriate as well, since Democrats are openly using it to refer to themselves. I'm not sure it is emotional either. It is just a convenient term for government expansion.
