Humans evolved Bipedalism (along with larger brains) over millions of years. The end result was while that allowed them to pretty much spread over the entire globe, the quadrupedal chimps - All five species - are limited to THIS region and are all in danger of extinction.

This is exactly how natural selection works. More successful species have an advantage and slowly supplant or replace a less successful species.
