Economically, it seems like workers should choose republicans so that they can keep their earnings. The government loves to give workers' money to everyone but them. I get that unions help some, but what about everyone else?

Its nature is to oppose all progress no matter the social benefit. In short, "conservatism" is for losers.

Now perhaps the wording is...offensive but across history conservatives are always on the losing side. Examples:

Someone here mentioned the "free market" as a conservative creation. No, in fact, prior to the "free market" e.g. "capitalism" there was mercantilism and feudalism and it was conservatives who defended these economies.

The American Revolution was opposed by conservatives.

Slavery was defended by conservatives

Restricting the right to vote to property owning white men was (and is) defended by conservatives.

Social Security and Medicare were opposed by conservatives and still are.

Every societal move forward across American history has been opposed, unsuccessfully, by conservatives.

On a rare occasion, a change can be beneficial but one need not be a Liberal to recognize a beneficial change.
