I’ll never forget the time I sat through an economist’s lecture at a TEDx in Germany back in 2016. The guy began by ranting that in Germany nobody respects economists, and they are viewed as being a joke. He proceeded to give us his prediction for the 2016 US election of Hillary vs Trump. He used his super advanced algorithm he came up himself, and predicted that Hillary would win. I can’t remember what main factors he used, I just remember it sounded ridiculous. Gawd I wish I could had seen his face on election night.
